    Just for info, Gresford had only two shafts, the Martin (about 2252 feet), and the Dennis (about 2264 feet). The Dennis being the ‘downcast’ shaft (air being drawn down the pit) and the Martin being the ‘upcast’ shaft (air being drawn up from the pit)
