The three should also have to go before the Standards Committee – presumably their action followed from the Legal Officer first advising that the Council should not go for a Judicial review. This really looks like a breakdown in relationships between the Council Members and the Officers.

The update this morning is even worse for waiting even though fewer people. 72 waiting but nearly 5 hour wait. These are average waits as there are bound to be some people in A & E who were there last night.
Wonder if we will hear anything from Lesley Griffiths or Ken Skates about these problems – they are good at getting publicity for their Island Green car park campaign despite people being able to chose and car in another car park but they have remained totally silent on health services which people don’t have an alternative choice.

Wrexview Ty Pawb has never been run but by a Trust – there is an Advisory Committee the asset and staffing have always been under the direct control of the Council.

If the structure is to be independent then clarity is required about who the report means as members – Council Members or Members of the Trust?

4.13 Once the Charitable Trust is established and becomes a legal entity, a public
engagement exercise will be undertaken via the establishment of a
Community Engagement Committee which will be led by the Trust, subject to
    member approval.

The proposal has limited vision and potentially attract limited funders as it is for the ” develop the City of Culture bid for Wrexham for 2029 and to manage the delivery of City of Culture if successful” – there is no reference to continuation byond 2029 which many funders would want to see.

If Independent why is the Council predetermining the staffing requirements – this should be the role of the new Board so Terms and Conditions are under their control and not forced to take on the higher costs associated with Council employees- “Staffing: Additional posts will have to be created – these include two interim posts and three officer level posts initially for 2023”

I would also hope that there is a way to attract more local people to the Board as there are a limited number who have a real feel for Wrexham.

It’s not just about cost but the calibre of those elected – looking at some of the current ones they would not even get shortlisted for a job in the real world!

These artist impressions have floated around for years with just minor tweaks- the Council have spent literally £100’s thousands on various schemes that never get off the drawing board. Any town/city redevelopment needs to have a strong partnership between the Council, Private Sector and Public.
Doesn’t matter how many £millions are available the Council have never succeeded in full engagement with the Private Sector that have assets valued far more than any Council funding. The Council also believe in consultation but not engagement- the difference is that engagement first leads to consultation not the other way. Look at the track record dealing with traders in the Markets- Ty Pawb, Butchers and Butter- often killing the trade.
The Council pre Covid were so slow dealing with the homeless issues that the town developed an image of being a cess pit of drop outs and fear – that image has still not been changed and people voting with their feet and going to other shopping centres.
No easy answer but more and more money is not the answer without proper engagement with all stakeholders.

This money will not come from the Senedd – they have no say in how it is used- Westminster control

This may well be the last road Cycle Race to be held in Wales with the intro of the 20 mph – professional cyclist are not geared up to go so slow.

Councilor X – basic economics income must equal expenditure, for many years this has not been the case. The Council have mismanaged for a number of years as show with penalty notices issued by the Charity Commission due to not submitting accounts – sometimes by as much as three years over due. Lack of investment and engagement with the broader community to set up Trustees. At present although a Charity the Council is the sole Trustee. This is an iconic site that means so much for military veterans and their families and should be preserved at all costs.

Wrexhamuser – I’ll be the first to support your views. Wrexham does not have the hotel capacity for large events and people will stay out of the area as they will want large capacity or use team coaches etc with sleeping facilities. Events like cycling we are 2/3 years aways from being able to cater large scale which is a pity as many of the smaller eating establishments could have benefitted. It also seem extraordinary that a Council has to pay to have a multimillion pound event. Many of the team sponsors have income far in excess of the Council. Should the organisers not be paying Wrexham.

Same with the football the investment the dynamic duo have put in the club was not dependent on the Gateway project- what direct benefit will this have for the residents of Wrexham vs having the money put into schools or social care?
