There’s a recent episode of Dispatches on Channel 4 (still available online) which reveals how Facebook tolerates and turns a blind eye to all types of unacceptable content, including videos of kids being beaten and being violent to others. I think schools, councils, public bodies and businesses should take the lead and stop using such platforms – suspend their accounts and stop all advertising spending – until they get their act together.

This may well be proven to reduce emissions, but applying it to just one stretch of road is just a drop in the ocean and we can’t possibly have this implemented on all roads.

The section in question seems an odd choice too. Ruabon to Halton roundabout and Gresford to Posthouse roundabout are generally the congested areas and slowing traffic to a steady flow there might make more sense – reduce emissions when the road is clear, ease traffic flow when the road is busy.

But on that point, I think the priority should be reducing and eliminating congestion problems where hundreds of cars are at near stand still with their engines running. That’s surely a bigger contributor to nitrogen oxide than vehicles flowing at 70mph. I got caught up in the daily gridlock in and around Ysbyty Maelor around 5:30pm yesterday and couldn’t believe it.

It’s quite possibly criminal for the Council and Labour Government in Cardiff to allow such congestion and air pollution to harm our health. And that’s the only reason Carwyn Jones’s Cardiff Bay Labour cronies have acted now – they were caught out failing to comply with regulations and taken to court, leading to them admitting a breach of the law and agreeing to take action by April 2018. And here we are.

S4C’s current affairs series Y Byd ar Bedwar have had an undercover reporter work for Kingdom in Anglesey, an ex-employee in Denbighsbhre and several targetted individuals in Conwy and Anglesey contribute to a programme, available for a month or so via S4C website or app (Android, FireTV, etc). Gwynedd and now Anglesey have ditched Kingdom and their unfair practices.

In Pritchard’s report to Exec Board on 13 Dec 2016, his single-mindedness on the Groves is evident in at least a couple of statements:
5.4 Only complete demolition and site clearance will reduce security patrol costs, prevent damage, protect health and safety.
Obviously false. Making use of the site would also address these issues.
5.6 There are risks in relation to anti-social behaviour, unauthorised access, damage occuring due to the building remaining in situ.
We are surrounded by buildings “in situ”. This isn’t a problem. The Groves has issues because it is not in use.

The M could be for market or marchnad. Or Maelor.

Perhaps once it’s open and the people of Wrexham have had a look they might come up with their own interpretation of the M – could be anything from Oriel Madness to Oriel Magnificent.

If the M is English, then Oriel M is itself bilingual ;-)

Less than a month after being elected as an “independent” councillor, I understand at least one of them has been seen posting Tory general election leaflets through Wrexham doors.

Matt, I’ve posted a leaflet about myself through 90% of letter boxes in the ward. I’ll be doing the rest this weekend and knocking on doors the same time. I’ll be trying to speak to as many as possible before 4th May. The leaflet has all my contact details if you want. I don’t usually use my middle name so you’ll have more success if you just google Aled Powell, but beware there are at least a dozen people with the same name (I’m aledpowell on Twitter and Facebook). This site’s candidate Q&A section will be a good source of info about me. It’s a heck of a questionnaire but I’m almost there.

Crikey, aledwelsh1960, imagine if the electorate really do see what they’re up to – showing they’re not in it for the money to line their own pockets with cash and top-spec gadgets whilst cutting pay, jobs and services for everyone else.

BenjaminM, you’re figure of “maybe a couple of grand” is clearly plucked from the air and is a laughably low guestimate at that. It can’t be that you’re actually a councillor yourself scared of losing your cosy little side earner to someone with their feet firmly on the ground and willing and able to do a better job for less?

Figures I’ve seen suggest had all the current councillors been content with what they got in 2012 and stuck with that pay for their whole term, there would have been about £500,000 – yes half a million – less to cut from our services.

Dragon is right in that the Plaid Cymru councillors currently have ipads. I think all the councillors do.

My understanding is the Plaid councillors are perfectly happy with the ipads they’ve got as they work well and they’d rather Wrexham Council kept the £32,000 for services that the people of Wrexham need and deserve. Seems like a simple common sense case of “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.”

It wouldn’t surprise me if the failing Labour mob comes out against the new ipads between now and May. They party has a track record of adopting common sense Plaid policies. Mind you, Labour is caving in on itself these days as they quarell amongst themselves, so it’ll be a miracle if they manage to string together any policies by May.

I know there are exceptions, but generally roundabouts are marvellous things for traffic flow. I wonder why they’ve opted for traffic lights at the Moneypenny/Fire & Ambulance Station/Maelor Car Park junction rather than the presumably much cheaper and efficient option of a circle of cobbled stones in the middle of the junction?
