I wonder how long they would be allowed to stay if they moved on to the Guildhall Green?

The latest news is that due to the presence of dogs near the school, it was decided that pupils would be kept in the school during usual lunch break and playtimes.

So Human Rights apply to Travellers but not to an entire school of children?

(18 May 2016) The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, 2016 Day of General Discussion to be held in Geneva, Switzerland on 23 September 2016 will be devoted to the theme of Children’s Rights and the Environment. Inspired by this theme, IPA has developed a discussion paper on Children’s Right to Play and the Environment.

This discussion paper highlights the critical role of play to children’s well-being, development and survival and reflects upon the impact of environmental conditions on the realisation of the right to play in children’s everyday lives.

“The quality and benefits of play are highly susceptible to the environments in which it occurs. It can be compromised by extreme and toxic stressors brought about through the actions or inaction of adults. Wherever children’s right to play is negatively impacted there are consequences for children’s health, development and well-being.”

Over to you Andy Williams …………..
What do we Know about this proposed “Garden Tax” and is it around 3 times what we currently pay in Council tax? — hm.—- that’s Thousands of pounds out of our pocket each and every year maybe!
Is that information correct?
One google search says ………….. Those with more than 1.23 acres of land face having to pay a 28 per cent levy on gains on the sale of a home.
So thousands of pounds out of our pockets each year ……. if we are selling houses with 1.23 acres of garden!

Another says …………Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has claimed that that a Labour Government will not add to the taxes of people earning below £80,000.

I don’t think they will make much out of my window box or pension but your typical Tory like Andrew may be out of pocket

Hats off to the Tories, whether you like them, loathe them or tolerate them. There is currently no opposition for them, so why not stake their claim to another term now?
New flower beds beautifully planted up, missing trees replaced, street lights mended, streets cleaned and even the odd pothole filled in ! All these things have been accomplished in the last few weeks , after months of inaction. Either Councillors are looking for our vote or there has been a pot of money discovered at the end of the rainbow in the Guildhall.
Pure coincidence! The Council has been balancing its books and there was a little left over to make the town a little happier!
Its a bit like finding a pound coin down the back of the sofa or a fiver in the pocket of your chinos.

Section 132 of the Highways Act 1980

Unauthorised marks on highways.
(1) A person who, without either the consent of the highway authority for the highway in question or an authorisation given by or under an enactment or a reasonable excuse, paints or otherwise inscribes or affixes any picture, letter, sign or other mark upon the surface of a highway or upon any tree, structure or works on or in a highway is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding £100 or, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction under this subsection, to a fine not exceeding £200.
(2) The highway authority for a highway may, without prejudice to their powers apart from this subsection and whether or not proceedings in respect of the matter have been taken in pursuance of subsection (1) above, remove any picture, letter, sign or other mark which has, without either the consent of the authority or an authorisation given by or under an enactment, been painted or otherwise inscribed or affixed upon the surface of the highway or upon any tree, structure or works on or in the highway.

When the police expose this criminal, will you pay his fine Andrew?
Many thanks to our mystery painter as I have been banging on about this since last September. Indeed the constituent who first raised it got a ” job completed ” message about 28 days after it was raised.
As I leave it I am sorry to say the present council has proved to be the slowest I can recall since first being elected in 1993 in responding to small scale ,but potentially serious ,issues such as these.
I can only console myself that I was never taken in by the Lead Member’s statement ” it will be done when the better weather comes.” (Sic )

Andrew, your actions here are irresponsible and you are encouraging people to take the law into their own hands!

Section 132 of the Highways Act 1980 makes it an offence for a person to paint, inscribe or fix any picture, letter, sign or other mark on the surface of a highway or upon any tree, structure or works on the highway.

Well said Animal Mother, you showed “iout” up for what he/ she is, or was it a typo? i.e. “lout”

Daave63, I vote chicken. Who wants KFF?

Personally I think iout made some perfectly valid points, rubbished by Animal Lover sorry Mother and yourself Councillor whoever, but everyone has an opinion and entitled to express it in this country, just about for now ;)
If ‘iout’ is unhappy with the service provided by the Police, rather than moan here, he/she should do something about it and fill in a complaints form:
