Councillor XParticipantAlthough i do not think that Councillors and Top Management should have to pay to park because they work on behalf of the people of Wrexham, if WrexhamWatch is correct, they won’t have to fight for parking spaces with shoppers and will be able to keep their own car park.
If you want to look at the bigger picture and see where the money will be lost, all people who work for the Council will be able to buy a pass for a ton and can share it with their friends and family which will lose a LOT more money than by keeping the Councillor car park private.
What is to stop photocoping passes or selling a pass? This came up at the local and five people said they would buy or rent a pass if it saved them over £15 a week.
Don’t devilise Councillors and Top Managers when there are bigger fish in the sea. It is a storm in a tea cup and unlikely to happen.
Councillor XParticipantYes, I have read it and my point is that we should be applauding Ty Pawb’s overwhelming success on this forum, none of this negativity.
The Council have done an excellent job and it is another notch in Wrexham’s belt.
Councillor XParticipantSurely a lot of you are writing on the wrong forum, this is “Ty Pawb – success” :)
Councillor XParticipantSome people take exception to my logic, often implying that this is somehow flawed but after working for a number of Welsh Councils and still being in touch with many officers and Councillors, I do assure you that my opinions are valid and are well sourced.
Council Watcher, if you ‘believe’ the car hire saving is true, where do they park the cars and wouldn’t the people (Top Managers?) still need to park their own cars at the Council Car Park? The £8 saving is lost because someone could have paid to park in those spots.
CarolThomas, taking away FREE car parking would make them want to attend less meetings.
The Solution? Keep things as they are.
Change for Change’s Sake Doesn’t Always Equal Progress.
Councillor XParticipant
Going back to https://www.wrexham.com/news/which-councillor-claimed-1-35-mileage-to-attend-remembrance-day-service-99364.html etc it appears WCBC do allow travel expenses from home to guildhall for meetings.
I have often stated that Councillors should have access to Pool cars and that would sort both mileage claims and parking.
Councillor XParticipantWhy spoil a good thing WCBC?
I didn’t like this either “Councillors still wishing to park in the town centre could offset the new cost via their recent £200 pay rise, the equivalent of well over two months parking in the Waterworld carpark.”

Thank you I will pop in later.
It will go with the discount you get on parking.
Discount = A deduction from the usual cost of something.
Free = Given or available without charge.PS The ‘free’ parking is under debate this month for Councillors and Top Managers so you never know Jimbow.
Councillor XParticipantThank you I will pop in later.
Councillor XParticipantWhy re-advertise when there is another Wrexham/ Flintshire merger on the cards?
Wrexham should share a Chief Executive Officer and save “£111,191 – £127,513 , plus ‘election fees’ for the Returning Officer role that is also undertaken.”ALSO Don’t forget how much advertising this unwanted and unpopular position is costing.
Councillor XParticipantI hope they put a few on the Councillors/ Top Management car park at Guildhall to encourage them to go green and set an example to Council staff.
