Matt you are spot on highlighting the revolving door that operates with the Council- in through the door for one service, bounced out to another and so on. I would have hoped that with a family heading for eviction that Social Services would have been involved with the Housing Department to try and establish a solution. If they have only come in at the time of eviction it shows they failed in their Duty of Care to the children. No doubt more details will come at some time if the mum has been charged with any offences.

Spoken with a few traders this weekend at Ty Pawb – what a depressing group they have become- it was reasonably busy on Saturday a number of the stalls had closed by 2.00pm. Seems that very few are now open from about 9.00 – 5.00 – quite a few are now cutting back on their trading hours as the weekly football is way below expectations.

Cant see it long before an exodus of traders starts as they are losing/lost confidence in the Council management to turn things around and make it the vibrant centre it was supposed to become.

The evacuation was due to the potentially significant risk to residents located around the house where the standoff was occurring. If the incident had developed and threats acted on then there could have been a significant danger to those in the area.
All just need to be grateful that the incident was concluded without injury.

Matt no statement appears to have been made yet by the Police — Plas Madoc rumour mongering is ripe at the moment so let’s wait for official comments.
You are perfectly right about the stupidity of evicting someone then to be rehoused under the Council Emergency Housing protocol.
Not sure if it is still the same but the eviction team and emergency housing a few years ago both used to sit almost next to each other in the same office.
For someone to get to this state with 4 children in the house raises the question about why Children’s Social Services and Family support was not available before today?

The big issue is that parents have a choice – some don’t cost anything and others have to pay for their decision (extra bus fairs). The cost of travel vs an actual likelihood of your child getting a better education in one of the outs of the county or Maelor School Penley is actually a small cost to pay (if you can afford) to get your child on a better pathway in life.

All blame does not, however, lie at the door of the secondary schools – you only need to look at how few Primary schools in Wrexham are rated Green- poor quality early start in education will have an impact through a child’s education in schools.

Compounded on top is the number of young people in secondary school is less than ten years ago – the real upturn based on the current Primary numbers will not hit until 2020/2021 and run to 2026 when ther will be between 10 and 15% than 2018/19

Matt – I think when you see the detailed media statement from the Police you will appreciate why they had such a large presence. An extremely difficult and sensitive issue that is beyond a straightforward eviction.
Also, it is legally not possible for a Council to carry out an eviction that leaves anyone who has children with them in a homeless position – out of one property into an alternative at another location.

The only beneficiaries are the one/two members of staff sitting behind the reception who will not be affected by the 20 seconds of wind that may blow when the sliding door opens.

There are defined times for the retention of CCTV images as set out under the GDPR regulations that came into force 25th May this year. The recording of meetings with the consent of people involved (Councillors have already signed for image retention) is not covered by the GDPR retention policy as CCTV systems which are defined as ‘random capture of images’.
The only point would be is that any member of the public asking a question would have to sign to authorise retention. In years gone by the minute books for Council would be retained by the County Archivist so why does this still occur with electronic recordings.

There is a difference between destroyed and deleted as far as technology is concerned – in most instances a deleted file can be recovered relatively easy so unsure how the Council have come up that it is not available.
In today’s world of mass storage, the space required to hold a webcast would be very small. It would also be very easy to run a webcast file through word capture software that could convert the audio into a Word document that would require considerably less storage.
What has happened seems to be a matter of convenience not to have a true record.

Its bad enough that it has been stolen but would be terrible if someone tried to use it and ended up inflicting hard on the ‘patient’. It looks like the type of thing that kids would try and get a kick out of by giving each other shocks.
Hope the offenders are caught and dealt with appropriately
