It took a small number of drivers, which sad to say we’re mostly of foreign origin to paint such a bad picture of the GHA company. I knew most of the drivers and I can honestly say that the majority of them were hard working and a dedicated group of individuals. Many would at the drop of a hat change all their plans and arrangements to help out whenever a problem occurred which, sad to say, was a regular occurrence. GHA’s problems started about two years ago with the appointing of their latest general manager. The company began to spiral out of control almost immediately he was employed. Somebody once told me that his previous position at another bus company met with the same fate.
What is more intriguing is “how didn’t the GHA directors see this happening?” The warning signs were there for a long time.
Call it an oversight if you like, I call it bad management.

About ten years ago I was travelling through France on my way to a Paragliding competition in Laragne Monteglin. It’s a good distance and through the mountains south of Grenoble. Anyway, I needed a pee and as it was quiet and sort of off the beaten track I pulled over on a bend and got out of the car to do what I had to do. I decided to go somewhere out of sight should a car come around the corner. I walked down a hill slightly and noticed something in the bushes. After having my pee I went to investigate. I moved some bracken and discovered an Ifor Williams trailer, clearly distinguishable from the Blue Painted Nameplate. It had obviously left the road many years previous judging by the tyres which had perished away. Who would have guessed that it would be possible to see one of their trailers on “or should that be off” some nondescript mountain road in the south of France.
Had to share that one with you all!!:p

I live on the main road about 200 meters from Dickens. I’m sure the proposed Aldi supermarket would be welcomed by locals. Saving them the bother of the journey into Wrexham. Also, Aldi’s prices are much cheaper than the other local retailer which means further savings when you also don’t need to travel into town. The only downsides I can see would be the added traffic using the already busy junction. It’s sometimes difficult to get back onto the main road especially when the local businesses close at the end of the day.
