Following a couple of recent threads, re-councillors naming themselves etc, isn’t it better that we have open and frank debates rather than people having to tow the party line or not really saying what they think.
I for one like to be fully honest and open and never hide behind a sm [cough] smo [cough] smoke [cough, sorry ahem!] smoke screen. I also hope any ex-boys in blue amongst the readers continue to enjoy the banter:D!Yeah, towing the party line and obfuscation!
Who do they think they are, the government?
asteve76ParticipantAnyone else seen all the crap in the verge between Mold Rd and Glyndwr University?
asteve76ParticipantIs it just me or is the mere thought of throwing an empty coke can or fast food container on the street a totally alien concept?
These people must have been brought up wrong.
asteve76ParticipantI think, if the amount has to be rounded up or down, because its the government we’re talking about, it’ll round upwards.

To help settle this and avoid a huge debate, petrol pumps only allow a ‘minimum’ purchase to be dispensed. It can vary and will be on a sign on the pump, have a look next time you’re filling up!
Actually, I don’t drive so wasn’t aware of a minimum purchase.
But, the issue remains.
If I purchase 5 litres of fuel, this amounts to 529.5 or £5.29 and half a penny.
asteve76ParticipantSo it’s a bit of a waste of time being so precise with the pricing. Just get rid of the decimal point value.
asteve76ParticipantSurely, for all your working life, you pay your dues because you have to and that money goes to pay for, as you say, NHS and education and a hundred other things, NOT because you expect some sort or reward when you retire. Apart from your state pension.
Things like bus passes, a free TV licence (over 75) and winter fuel payments etc, are gifts, things the government doesn’t have to give you.
asteve76ParticipantWhichever way its done, customs & excise will have questions in need of an answer.

Reading the headlines about this woman approaching people in the town reminded me. Yesterday the same woman approached me and asked If I had a mobile phone she could borrow to make an urgent call.
I’ve seen many scams both here and abroad and can usually tell a fake request from a genuine one. I told her I didn’t have a phone, of course I do and watched her as she went around other people. Be warned she will do a Usain Bolt as soon as she gets hold of your phone. This kind of reminds me of the time, a few years ago, when a BMW pulled up by me when I was outside the TSB on Priory Street, with two dark gentlemen inside.
One rolled down the window and asked if I wanted to buy a watch for £50.
I declined of course, but it just goes to show that these people are out there.
asteve76ParticipantWhether you pay a fare or have a pass (especially if you have a pass), you should just shut up!
Fine, complain if you think the driver is driving dangerously or doesn’t stop to pick you up. NOT if the bus is cold or smelly or has litter everywhere.
Remember this, you are effectively travelling on the roads for free, while others including car and lorry drivers etc pay for fuel, road tax and insurance. -
