Wynnstay colliery was near Plas Madoc. The stone built winding tower is still there. Over 30 men lost their lives underground here.

I have discovered that Central retail park do not have planning permission for ANPR cameras and the planning department is investigating. I wonder if Asda, Tescos and others are in breach of planning law.

If you receive any phone calls from so called debt collection companies, always answer
“I am recording this conversation and any alleged debt is firmly denied. Any further contact will be deemed harassment and reported to the OFT”

Or a basic F*** OFF! may suffice.

    Really off topic now sorry.

“People are unlikely to get caught for speeding here (doing over 30 anyway) as by law I don’t think anything would be enforceable due to lack of clear signage.”

Sorry Mike but this is incorrect.

“Section 82(1)(a) (of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (RTRA 1984)) defines a restricted road in England and Wales as a road which is provided with “a system of street lighting furnished by means of lamps placed not more than 200 yards apart”. Section 81 specifically makes it an offence for a person to drive a motor vehicle at a speed of more than 30 mph on a restricted road.”

In a built up area with lamposts less than 200 yards apart, the speed limit is 30 mph, signs or no signs. The Police will not accept “no signs” as an excuse for speeding.

The 40 mph and national limit are permanent signs on posts not the temporary ones
