Mrs Crewe-you are in danger of showing your political slip and decieving others.
Wrexham CBC is not a Labour led council and certainly post September 2014 is in opposition-I should know. What was clear from debate last night is that it is the council itself that is in a political upheaval due to members of all groups feeling they are being ignored.

Correction Dylan .It was ten ex Labour defectors, renegades- pick your own words. Increasingly on issues there are dangers that lead members ,who I am sure work hard are in danger of losing a majority of the views held by others if my discussion with members of other groups on the library trust idea is anything to go by.

Hi Dylan, The building remains the property of Wrexham Council and we are tweaking a Tenancy at Will. The stock of books ,dvd’s etc remain Wrexham’s stock and we have a current Service Level Agreement (SLA) that would have to be renegotiated with which ever body takes on the libraries.
What is a management fee? We have had great support from Gresford Community Counci, but not yet Rossett but otherwise we fundraise for our funds and have a “Friends of GDCL” scheme . Pop in and see us or have a look at the Gresford and District Community Library Facebook or website.

As has been said the rules have changed and it is down to the individual to register themselves. If you have not had recent confirmation you are on the register I would implore you to do so. Then you can vote as you wish ,be angry or apathetic but you have your part in democracy.
I recently approached the other group leaders on the council so we could give a joint non-partisan appeal, as per the advice on much council info, to spread the message to register. I got positive support from the Plaid Cymru group and Lib-Dem group but no reply from either Independent groups or the Tories. I trust they are not unhappy with a lesser electorate.

Gratified to see the general tenor of the comments are with the sense of having a Wrexham or N E Wales library trust. Although it was stated this will be looked at and costed we have to keep the pressure on.
Thanks for the offer JaneJ but the strength of Greford Library -GDCL -is it’s local support, volunteer network and VITALLY the sense of ownership. Are you more likely to get involved, fundraise and lobby for a Wrexham concern or a SW Trust? As I said at the board I do not believe this can not be replicated in Overton, Chirk, Ruabon etc.
I appreciate Wrexham Library is a bigger option, but then so is Splash.
I also appreciate that whilst volunteers have a great role to play there are employment concerns that we in Gresford did not have but these are not insurmountable so let us keep the pressure on.
One last thing is that whilst the SW Trust idea got the majority vote on the board quite a number of councillors have expressed differing views to me, across all groups- have a chat with your local councillor.

I am not sure how much “listening ” happened in the infamous 8 minutes!
My own group had a good Q &A for an hour. However it is clear that any merger will not happen for 5 years at the least so let us concentrate on the job in hand.
It may be a very good idea to listen to others in the area of local government.
How about starting with neighbouring councils on the horrendous Con-Dem austerity cuts local government is facing all across the UK.

I was interested to read the thread started by JaneJ as I have been labelled a”Christmas curmudgeon ” by some in Wrexham Council for pointing out the disparity of one department promoting ” healthy eating” and another helping to promote something with questionable nutritional value.
Ask your dentist -if you still need them.

I also had a little moan about a) the commercialisation of Christmas and b) the Americanisation of Christmas and was told that Coca Cola ” invented ” Santa’s red suit. Tosh! Check the history of St Nicholas ,bishop of Myra and the various European traditions.

Sorry the land bank of houses should have read 3.6 years ,a substantial shortfall bequeathed to this council from the 2008-2012 one!

In terms of who says we need more houses the planning inspector in rejecting the previous council’s LDP in 2011 said we need more. This is likely to be somewhere between 6-10,000 dwellings ! The same council also bequeathed a shortfall in the 5 year bank of housing and at the moment that is around 6.6years. Put those facts together and it is not a happy picture for resisting developers and in the absence of a current LDP it is harder to match new proposals to the infrastructure, that should come with an”all singing-all dancing” LDP. That said by all means object on planning grounds to factors such as strain on health services, loss of agricultural land and school places.
N.B.-I can confirm that the vacancies mentioned at All Saints Gresford are correct -at maximum 15 spare places.
