Make my position clear I am not against the housing and certainly not against the railway station– all will help develop the area and have investment into services provided local people make sure they have their say

When on the train going past Rossett and look where all the building / railtrack material have been kept for recent works plenty of carpaking and platfrom space. I think Steve could be correct

I hope the Council and new residents make sure that you get what the developer promises– look at Broughton Heights in Pentre Broughton — adopted site, no play facilities.. get you Councillor to commit to get the best for Llay – make them accountable

As this has now been given the green light one of the things residents should now be seeking to find out from the Council is what the developer will be contributing under Section 106/Community Benefit contribution to community facilities, schools, play space etc. Look at the fine print of when this would be paid — stage payment or on completion. Thus is something you need to get you local Councillor to provide to local residents.
In past experience Wrexham Council is very poor at maximising the Section 106 and pursuing developers for things such as play space and equipment.

Mr Kipling since when have you become a Police Accident Investigator? Your inference about the lady is extremely disturbing if either she or her family read this thread and Rob should delete asap.
Your level of insensitivity has stooped to a real low.

Surely all candidates if they had read the Conservative Party information provided would have seen that Central Office would provide a variety of Social Media and Telephone canvassing as part of the ‘support’ package to help the local campaigns. These communications had guidelines about what to be doing when in turns of the lead up to Election day.
It would be highly unlikely that any local candidates would even question whether what Central Office was doing might have been illegal- I’m sure they would expect to ‘trust’ those in a head office.

Wow Wexam-lager I would not even see any comparison of an illegal “Irish Gypsy” (wonder how you know they were Irish- not all Travellers are Irish) with terrorist incidents or the one such as the Tower fire. A minor (albeit a nuisance) civil disobedience vs deliberate killings and corporate deaths- absolutely no comparison in my book..

Yes there is an Emergency Plan for Wrexham, no doubt the London Boroughs also have a Plan, the issue is are the resources available and people with the emotional strength to enact the Plan. If you go onto Wrexham Council web site and search Emergency Planning there are two leaflets one fir citizens and one fir business that are generic and not Wrexham specific.

As a local Forum it is inevitable that points I raise and those of others will often be directed at OUR local Council but equally applies in other areas. You only have to look at the issue over the Grenfell Park fire and the woefully inadequate response from their local Council — who have now been removed from dealing with the humanitarian side of the support as they just could not cope.

Hence the reason I asked the question could Wrexham Council cope?

Issues over funding and the investment in resources will always be an issue and although you refer to Wrexham getting funding from Welsh Government, they get theirs from Westminster. Most politicians irrespective of their Political affiliation acknowledge that the Barnet formula on which this is calculated, outdated and need replacing.

Incidentally additional funding resources are available from Central Government for disasters under the Bellwin funding scheme so no Local Authority should have the excuse of not having resources- but can they manage them?
