Wrexham Council have shot themselves in the foot on this issues – as mentioned on separate thread about Travellers- Irish Travellers would likely have protected nationality on their side.

Some readers may remember the very long running saga that Wrexham Council got into with the Berry family who were travellers that set up home on the lane by Clywedog School – that cost the Council £100’sK trying to get them moved from their own land and lasted years.

Will they soon to start adding legal costs onto the security cost the Council are already paying.

Glad there has been clarification as the original story made reference to funding loan from Vibrant and Viable which is restricted to town centre only and not other areas of the County.

The scheme only applies to certain parts of Wrexham it is not across the whole County- not very equitable as we all pay taxes and rates

It’s a bit late for Mr Strange to raise this now after so many years since the Miners was sold — perhaps he should have raised the issue at the time when the building first came on the market. Perhaps he should be asking those that were Trustees of the building when it was sold did they give any money to the Mine Heritage Group based at Bersham Colliery or will they donate to the preservation of the unique Mine Rescue Centre by Wrexham Warehouse Project. Did any of the money raised from the sale actually stay in Wrexham or did it go into the coffers of the NUM or other Union funds.

Easy solution move to the Groves Site- wait a week and Council will come and give you toilets, skip and if you are really lucky people will want to help you!!

As the Council are leeting the ‘campers stay’ then no fear of being evicted – if they get a Court Injunction then the travellers only need to put a counter discrimination claim and the Council will find themselves in Court..

Surely another element is depending on how welcoming or not Lord Street is and whether people dodge one part of a town compered to another. A single location measurement is not a statistical way of whole town footfall on a single location. Surely to get a true picture of the town figures from Eagles Meadow, supermarkets and car parking should all be in the mix. Otherwise they should just be open and state the footfall at a given point is xxx

FOI January 2014 showing how much Unions cost ratepayers in Wrexham

Corporate & Customer Services (Human Resources) Department does some of the information requested.

    1. Thank you for your reply re Union Facilities; I am seeking clarity on the following – You refer to staff being on secondment to the Unions — what is the cost to the Council for this time – I am assuming that there is a cost as you only refer to the Unions paying for administration.

Annual budget – £52,900 for 3 seconded officers, representing the Council’s three recognised trade unions. This includes superannuation, NI on costs plus costs on resources.

Why not share with Flintshire, cost saving and there are already lots of services covering both counties.
