More than a few hours rain and the flood waters rise in Wrexham. Everyone blames the Council for example from Twitter ….. RATTY

@lausy8 @wrexham How often does this have to happen before the highway drains are rodded and cleared for goodness sake? Every time there is a downpour this happens. Buck up please Wrexham Council! 😤😤🤬🤬😡😡😠
But think of how much rubbish is being swept away by the water! Cup half full I say! Cars are clean nobody needs to water the garden.
And we are getting a break from muffin tops, zombies and drinkers/ smokers because it is too wet!
“Ratty” appears to be a former familiar face in the higher echelons of council staff, a firm message about perhaps predictable issues from someone with insight?
Old Ratty Trev should have more insight into the budget pressures the Council is under. In times of austerity the rodding of drains is a luxury rather than a necessity. Most of the time they are fire fighting and have to react to issues that they cannot afford to sort out from their ordinary budgets.
Same with potholes. We all complain and the quick fixes don’t work put putting down a new surface isn’t an option. I am just grateful they are going to sort out the Gresford roundabout.
So come on Ratty think back to how hard times were at the Council and remember they are getting worse.
As with many things the Council (and probably all councils these days) prioritise things in order of what they can get away with, with regards to the public, as already mentioned drains are now just cleared when there are complaints.
I said to a council official last year that the council seem to be penny pinching trying to save the odd £100 or so here and there, I said to him what about looking at the millions spent on Social Care, Schools, Housing, Hospitals etc. etc. and see if you could save a few hundred quid there, he pulled a face as if to say are you insane and said we dare not touch any of that sort of stuff because of the reprisals.
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.
