Great to see that tourism adverts are being put out there, but the reality of the drop off point will soon hit the coach companies:

Anyone ever seen High Street like this, except first thing on a Sunday morning?

This is more familiar, bus lane or not:

This needs advertising far and wide. If a coach tour link between those that use Chirk, Erddig and the Aquaduct can be established the town centre could enjoy a substantial increase in footfall. Good to see Eagles Meadow support it with free parking and Frankie and Benny’s supplying some sustenance for the drivers.

The free coach parking at Eagles meadow must be in a loading bay as its the only part with a roof high enough?

This is a welcome initiative to encourage tourism to the town. However it must be targeted not only to Coach Companies and drivers but more importantly to TOUR Companies, as more often than not drivers have to adhere to itineraries which more often than not do not allow much flexibility.

Two points to consider fir this to succeed:-
    1. What other incentives other than a F and B meal for the driver?
    2. How long will it be before the drop off point in High Street is deemed to be unsuitable and passengers get dropped off in Eagles Meadow and then never walk to the rest of town.

You only need to look closely at certain tourist locations to realize that the incentives are one of the key drivers to get a coach to stop.

I might be cynical but parking in Eagles Meadow is potentially detrimental to the rest of Wrexham Town. A more suitable location would be the back of ARGOS using the entrance by the Fire Station- the footfall from there would be very advantageous to the whole of the Town Centre.

Hey well done Dylan, you nearly sounded positive there!
It is good to see an inititive to attract visitors to the town, a few points thou,
1, The High Street is possibly a good location givin the towns lay out these days, but if a foreign coach comes in, the door is on the wrong side and the un-suspecting tourist will meet their end in a colision with an illiterate toy-boy racer or a cluless free parker!
2, WCBC have been trying for this for years to attract coaches from Chester, and when they do, the advert flyer list as a nearby attraction – Chester city centre!!
3, Most importantly – ‘Where is the toilets please??’

Toilets are in Eagles Meadow therefore no need for the passengers to go anywhere else– parking in High Street may be on offer but wait and see how long it is before EM becomes the drop off point then no business in Town Centre will beniefit

Foreign coaches??! What the hell are you lot smoking??!

Wrexham can’t even attract people who live within walking distance of the centre. What kind of idiot would pay to come here on a coach tour? People with free bus passes would rather go elsewhere already.

This is economics of hope, not reality. Though no doubt somewhere in the guild hall a KPI chart has been coloured in green and backs are being slapped as another self-imposed ‘target’ is ticked off.

As the country recovers and surrounding towns are thriving, there is nothing for the council to hide behind anymore. A generation of poor management is fully exposed. Time for some fresh blood and fresh ideas.

Adam, you are Wrexham’s equivalent to Nigel Farage – you put into words what normal everyday folk are thinking.
Anyone who thinks that having a dedicated coach stop is going to be the panacea to all the ills that have befallen Wrexham town centre, think again.
The ‘attractions’ that are listed on the promo flyer are unlikely, in my opinion, to attract few, if any, coach tours to a run down, empty shopped, shopping experience.
The only one worthy of note is its’ proximity to Chester, but even allowing for a degree of poetic licence, I think that the 15 minute travel time stated is grossly underestimated.
And yes, you are probably correct in stating that another performance indicator has had a great big tick at the Guildhall but they should not receive all the flak as the economic situation is affecting towns and cities nationwide. Wrexham is not unique!

They need to put the location of the Trading Standards Dept on the leaflet too. That way when people get off the coach and don’t find a quaint market town with lots of restaurants, they can go and complain. The three indoor ‘markets’ made me laugh.
