Daave63ParticipantNot sure if you know, but the Wrexham School Run Rally is staged each and every school day morning. This unfortunate to enter event takes place around the closed roads of Wrexham – well I say closed roads because the school run entrants – mainly female with the ‘odd’ taxi driver thrown in – assume the roads are closed and any unfortunate non-runner is fair game. Specialist cars are used in this event – you do not require indicators, mirrors, accelarators, brakes etc etc…you are of course required to wear blinkers, head phones and in most cases pj’s! The idea of the sport, is suprisingly not to arrive promptly and safely at the educational destination of their choice, but to agrevate and annoy as many other drivers as possible, without actually appearing to even see them! Extra points are gained for’ pulling out blind’, ‘pulling up blind’ ‘driving all the way to school blind’ etc..etc. Now I don’t claim to be the best driver in the world – thats the wife of course – but I do use my mirrors, indicators and road sence, and as for some ‘car aimers’ at roundabouts – just don’t get me started on that!!

Love It :):) but unfortunately very true, the one other thing not mentioned is the people who live by these schools who struggle to get out of their own drives at these times :rolleyes:

Dont be so stupid M, who are these so called ‘people’ who think they can just come and go out of their own drives as they please! This is a country you know!

justjojo2011ParticipantDo you know what bugs me about the school run? The amount of parents who could WALK to the school and choose not to. I get 3 buses to take my son to school, one of which is sometimes the 13b. I have to get off at the TOP of Box Lane because there is no room for the bus to stop further down. Parents, who are both men and women block the road off, block off people’s drives and they don’t care. Most of these people could leave the car at home, but they choose to be lazy and drive the 2 minute walk instead.
Even worse, I manage to get my son to school on time every morning (unless the number 7 doesn’t turn up) and people who live across the road and legging it down the road every single day after the bell has gone

Daave63ParticipantMy god Jojo, whats is up with you, take your own son, your own son to school, 3 buses that you must pay for, what is your problem, I thought it was the councils job to get your son to school!! And those buses blocking up the 4×4 school transport routes! Expecting people to walk & be on time, you have really gone down in my estimation boy!

zingerParticipantIt isn’t the easiest thing for mums to catch 3 buses to drop their children off at school before going on to start work at 9.00am. Have you noticed that it is mostly mums? Why don’t more dads do the school run? At 3.00pm the mums are also probably at the same time trying to fit in picking up something for tea, popping in to see Nan, take the dog for a walk, drop little Jimmy off at football practice, help with home work & making sure there is a clean PE kit ready for the next day. Most of the men I know aren’t too good at multitasking.

Must be a nightmare that. You’ve carefully considered where to buy a house, you sign the contract, move in and suddenly find out there’s a school next door. Bummer.

I am but we haven’t got a dog so it’s easy for me I guess.

justjojo2011ParticipantI have a little extra leeway in regards to work. I start at 9:15 lol. There are a lot of dads on the school yard though, at least at my sons school.
My partner works nights so is sleeping when I leave the house to take my son to school.
