PhilWynnParticipantDear fellow wxm.com contributors
I wish to announce my decision to stand as an Independent candidate, in the forthcoming election for the parliamentary seat of my home-town of Wrexham.
I have decided to use wrexham.com as the vehicle to make this announcement, as we are all fortunate to have use of this freely supplied facility, which allows us all to debate what goes on in our town of Wrexham.
Further information about my candidacy will follow soon. Rest assured I am very much looking forward to convincing the Wrexham electorate that in me they will have an honest, decent and hard-working Member of Parliament. I will put the interests of all UK and Wrexham citizens first, without due influence of third parties such as Trade Unions or wealthy businessmen.
This contest promises to be a David and Goliath battle, but one I am relishing all the same.
I believe the mood of Wrexham folk, like in many other towns, is being shaped by our shared disillusionment in the main UK political parties and their ways of working. It is they who have let our proud nation down and it is now “Time for a Change”.
My message whilst one of optimism, will not hold back from tackling head on those issues which the main political parties wish to see imposed on Wrexham and in so doing will see us sold down the Gwenfro.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all candidates well in their campaigns and for keeping Democracy Alive.

Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the
Wrexham constituencyMarch 13, 2015 at 10:15 pm #73121
CerysHughesParticipantThat’s two independent candidates this time around.
I’m hope your manifesto will be more coherent that the other one.
Good luck.

CarolThomasParticipantWell it looks like we are in for an interesting set of challenges for candidates — I believe you are the second Independent to be declared (previous is Brian Edwards) so I presume we shall have at least 8 candidates.
We should all look forward to the usual promise , sub plots, platitudes and boasts of what a candidate will do if they are successful–
Let the debate begin– come on all you other candidates lets see what you have to offer!March 14, 2015 at 9:51 am #73104
FerretParticipantThe way this election is shaping up you could hold the balance of power for the whole country on 8th May!

Mrs CreweParticipantNice to see some grass roots standing rather than just the big parties and the loony parties. Having said that, it is very important to really understand what ‘independent’ means in this context. Some extremists have stood under the banner independent to hide what they really stood for. I am not suggesting that Mr Wynn is an extremist, I just hope that rather than voting in anger against the normal parties people really investigate what they are voting for.

before we hit godwin’s law, just like to say I don’t think Mr Wynn is an extremist.
Have to say. I don’t think the majority of the people who will vote for Ian Lucas know what they are voting for (and from my perspective) nor does he, same with the other parties.

Mrs CreweParticipantUmm, I did say I was not suggesting that Mr Wynn was an extremist, simply that ‘independent’ has been used by extremists. You actually quoted me saying it. And why are you bringing in Godwin’s law? There are far more types of extremists than the national socialists.

MetalheadParticipantCan’t say I’ve ever seen Godwin’s Law mentioned so early in a thread before! :)
Although I’ll be shocked to see anything other than the usual result come voting day in Wrexham it’s good to see new candidates deciding to throw their hats in the ring. Best of luck Cllr. Wynn.

thunderbirdskidParticipantI look forward to seeing the devil in the detail.
I know nothing about this guy, other than he’s engaged on here a few times.
Set out your stall Sir. I’m not convinced our sitting MP is as safe as people assume.March 14, 2015 at 5:00 pm #73115
PeterthewatcherParticipantIan ucas and Susan Ellen Jones have both lost a number of their foot soldiers when the 10 Labor Councilors left the Party– without these being the local voice of the Labour Party there is a big gap for these candidates campaign.
Let battle commence — I look forward to seeing any of the candidates in a debate -
