As there are a similar range of food factories and profile of workers in many locations across the Uk it is relevant that the national media pay attention- will Wrexham be the next Leicester as a population proportion we are nearly at the same level of cases. We need to learn now as tomorrow will be too late as we will be overrun by the virus.

237 positive cases of Covid in Rowan Foods as of today. Has the Maelor Hospital had an increase of Covid admissions as a result?

The fact that they refuse to close the factory down is shocking. It is putting everyone at risk at the factory and the wider community of Wrexham. We are at risk of being put into extended lockdown in this area like Leicester.

Long discussion about Rowan Foods on radio 5 Live this morning.A worker pointed out that social distancing is only required if it is possible . Apparently to get proper social distancing the production line needs to be slowed down and every other worker removed , this hasn’t been done apparently. The person defending the company blamed consumers wanting cheap food!

I think if this factory was in south Wales it would be temporary closed down.

Do the Council know what is going on in Wrexham, if so, what is to be done about it?

Vaughan Gething said yesterday, “So yes, we’re concerned about how the business is helping people to get to work in a manner that minimizes the risks of transmission between its workforce. I’m also genuinely concerned about the conditions that people live within, not just in houses of multiple occupation where people may share bathroom and toilet facilities or kitchens and the opportunity for contact indoors and surfaces is an obvious concern. You’ve heard that from our scientists, and others.”

“But in particular, if there is reality to the suggestion that people are sharing beds. That’s a matter where the agency may have some control and ability to help resolve that. But there’s an obvious risk if people finish one shift, then return from that shift to get into a bed that someone has just got out of. So there are real issues here about accommodation and how it maybe an unhelpful factor in driving transmission within that workforce.”

In the last 14 days there have been 60 cases of Coronvirus in Wrexham. 11 new ones today.

If the outbreak is not factory based where is it? Is it then in the community?

Am I alone in thinking that we should have more local information. Betsi Cadwaladr continue to have the highest number of cases in Wales but they tell us very little.
