Wexham.cm has some very interseting statistics re the demise of the Wrexham Leader and potentially the Daily Post. Your news item omitted one crucial fact – the publishers should be reported to the Trading Standards Authorities for having the cheek to call the paper a ‘Wrexham Leader’. The daily paper probably only has a maximum of 25% Wrexham news , 40% Buckley/Chester/ Flintshire 15% adverts 20% reports in court cases that most readers couldn’t give a stuff. 12 months and it is bound to have seen its last edition being published in paper form.

If the reporters got out of the office and looked for stories of news interest instead of waiting for someone to phone them in the Leader would be a a far more attractive buy, talk to people, ask questions, WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE, IT’S BASIC journalism,Mondays Leader is 70% advertising, on many occasions articles are repeated.Find out why Saith Seven is not a popular venue in the town, talk to Wrexham front line on a Saturday ,Who is the well known local escort doing a University degree, in short stop taking advertising revenue and giving back rubbish.

The Leader is a terrible paper. As stated above there is very little local Wrexham based news, and yes there is is a lot of lazy journalism. I swear all they do is go and sit in the Magistrtates court all day and look for stories that way. If someone’s up on a murder charge then yes, that’s front page news, but some of the silly stuff they put on the front page is not worthy of it IMO. There’s lots going on locally and but they don’t even bother to look for it.

A few years ago they did a “Save our High Street” campaign. It was a good idea, ran for a few months and then was dropped. What did it achieve? Sod all.

It is going to be interesting to see how candidates in next years Assembly Elections are going to get their message out with the Leader newspaper almost dead. Social Media will have a limited reach and without any National newspaper in Wales the prospective politicians are going to have a limited appeal whuch may result in very low turnouts

I have been a regular contributor to the Your View article in the Leader, where a local photograph is printed, since my comments on Leader sales in May,none of my photographs have been printed, despite some of them being of an acceptable standard ,I hope my comments where not taken in the wrong way, they were meant to be constructive and bring the newspaper back to standard, which I think in part it has done
,keep up the good work Leader staff but please don’t be childish.

I used to deliver the Evening Leader when I was a lad, but I’m older now and don’t.
