When sitting in the Public Gallery at Council Meetings you are reminded to remain silent, otherwise you face being asked to leave the meeting. Therefore it is surprising that when a gentleman claps in support of the Council they are so happy about it they Tweet the fact!
One of the biggest issues with the Council meetings is that no one in the Public Gallery can hear- the Council need to sort out the sound system — having speakers that are there but not turned on is not a solution– also when there is a webcast the mics on many of the Councillors must be turned down so much that they are not heard or is this all part of the current regimes policy of keeping quite and not letting the public know what is going on.
Come on Councillors who read these threads get your colleagues and officers to sort out the situation.
There was a time when microphones were not needed in the Council Chamber , Councillors stood up and spoke clearly. At times voices were raised , interventions and comments heard, debates were real and often heated, a far cry from the sanitised, staged managed meetings we see on the webcast.
