Is it me, or is Wrexham Council waging a purge against community amenities in deprived areas?

    Plas Madoc Leisure Centre

    Brymbo Community Centre…

It has been hinted that Wrexham Police Station could be earmarked for demolition and moved to Llay and, Waterworld closed. Seems a bit strange that both buildings could be demolished? Especially as they’re both very close to one another? What do they have planned for the Police Station/Waterworld site??? Why close down leisure centres when government advisors are concerned & advising healthier lifestyles?

I’ve lost count how many Retail parks the town has at present? It’s a bit of a mess isn’t it? Especially when Eagles Meadow cost over £100m and sold for £78m?
I don’t believe in coincidences. Especially when Wrexham Council are involved. They’re more than eager to set aside thousands of pounds aside for coffee and tea at their meetings etc…..

Where are people expected to go for exercise besides splashing out for a private gym membership? Everyone travel down to the Queensway facility?

Councillor Hugh John Jones has a private gym membership for DW Sports and, a personalised number plate 4×4. What’s his advice for people without transport living in deprived areas who are unemployed, on sickness benefit, and want to exercise?

The Waterworld site for demolition is larger than the pool and the Police station. In addition there is the demolition of Crown Buildings, Ian Lucas is fighting to find out about whether the Law Courts will move (there is a tunnel that links the Police Station cells to the court) , the only other building left is the Memorial Hall which is a charity – the Council is the only Trustee so could look to move the facility elsewhere.
200 metres away they have the Groves site which could be where the new Waterworld could be built.
The site with all of this demolition becomes a high value commercial development with
opportunities for housing, neighborhood store and social facility.
I wonder when the Council will come clean– interesting as the Planning Authority they could grant permission for virtually anything

WOT! Not more houses and/or student flats or will it be yet another supermarket. Where will they build the schools and colleges to supply the needs of all the extra families? Will the town centre be next to be demolished?

It is interesting that WG wouldn’t allow WCBC to take over the control from the Governors of the two schools as that would have given them total control to fulfill what you have highlighted. Think of the backlash of £20m+ of superschool funding was bulldozed. The value of the Clywedog and Rhosnessni sites for residential would potentially be higher that Waterworld as the unit price per house would be higher.
There are numerous examples where land deals have produced new schools such as ASDA for new Alexandra.
The strtaing pooint for the Council seems to be what is the land value — never mind what gpoes on — services are given second place in decisopn making.

That would be brilliant. It was on the table several years ago but the then Yale College had a financial implosion

Is that the same space that earlier yesterday was telling us that the new Waterworld might be built on the Groves site then appearing to concur with the option that MP1953 had heard the other day about the 2 schools moving to the same site. What with Zinger’s supermarket ‘n all it’s going to get a bit busy around there by the sound of it.

Now I’m as keen on some righteous indignation against the powers that be as the next chap but can someone please clarify exactly what I’m supposed to be getting angry about?
