What shop, food place or business would you like to come to Wrexham that we don’t have in town, or need more of?

Some lovely independant shops to open up – such as craft shops, clothing shops, anything independant really and my wish would be that everyone support these small businesses instead of shopping in the big supermarkets or online for everything. I hate having to shop online for craft bits and bobs or go to Chester. There is only 2 little stalls in the market.

A proper tapas bar would be fantastic, but run by somebody that has actually been to Seville, Granada etc.. La Tasca is pretty uninspiring IMO.

Less specifically, a good quality, consistent bar/restaurant near the centre is long overdue. Brunning and Price have shown a forumla that works yet we continue be lumbered with pub-restaurants competing on price not quality.

Totally agree with Tapas that would be great.

What would be good is if the council perhaps did research to see why people went to Chester, Nantwich, shrewsbury etc then offered incentives to get specific types of business to Wrexham town centre!

I’d like to see a nice delicatessen with local produce. There are loads of food and drink producers in North Wales and I’m suprised there isn’t one already (unless I’ve missed it!).

Does anybody have any money to be able to take the chance in opening a shop?

Yes it is a difficult time to open a new shop business, though I think something which there is a market for (and the shop/biz does well!) would have a fighting chance.

Funding is difficult and I would like to see national/local gov do much more to help people finance new small businesses – lets face it, the High st banks are not really interested. All the big boys today (think supermarkets etc) started small which is much more difficult now.

This is one of my favourite shops/places in north wales http://www.rhug.co.uk/the_shop/index.asp and it shows there is a market for good quality food stuffs!

Good idea – would be interesting to see if the Council had done anything like that.

Wrexham needs to play to its strengths – with the best will in the word people are going to go to Chester and Liverpool from time to time (indeed you could say that one of Wrexham’s advantages is its good position and transport to get about the region) BUT if town is a good place for both “the day to day” things AND develops more specialist/quality/unusual shops, eating places and nice places to have a drink then should get more people in and spending money.

Despite many things there is a good bit of loyalty to the wrexham area, even if it is hidden sometimes by our gripes.
