Why are wales lagging so much on testing. Our devolved government has shown that its behind the rest of the UK in so many ways. Scotland and N Ireland have managed it, why not Wales. Why is Wales receiving different advice from the scientists to the rest of the UK on testing and masks etc.

Today’s testing site is showing tests available in all of the UK apart from Wales, why??

Welsh Government don’t seem happy with the UK Gov website as you have pictured :

Speaking on BBC Radio Wales yesterday morning, the minister said: “It’s really unhelpful because that does give a misleading impression about the availability for tests in Wales for people who need to have tests done.

“Actually, we have different methods of getting people the tests that need them, but because there’s a policy divergence on who should be tested, and what the purpose of the test is, then that website I think is particularly unhelpful.

“It would be much better if it would describe the differences in approach being taken rather simply saying this isn’t available in Wales.

Thanks, Rob, for that input, but its ok the Minister speaking on Radio saying Wales has different methods. What methods? why make it complicated? It Seems that in the whole of the UK apart from Wales, basically anyone who has symptoms and wants to find out if they are infected to help them decide on isolating and work options can get one, They can book it themselves with reasonable ease whereas we in Wales have to pussyfoot around with telephone calls and contacting doctors or whatever the Ministers methods are.

Wales is miles behind the massive testing capacity increase spelt out by the UK Health Secretary
    Why?

It won’t be safe to even think about easing the lockdown until we have a proper system of mass testing, isolating and tracing.

    There’s no getting around this.

…well can you imagine if Labour were running the whole country, what a stinking mess we would be in. I also note, there is very little reporting in the national media about the hash the Welsh Assembly are making of this situation. Id be surprised if mark Drakeford can dress himself in the morning. Again the people of Wales, being let down by the government….but wait, I can here it now….its Centrals Governments fault as they hold the purse strings!

The situation we are in is unprecedented, no Government in power would or could have been prepared for this pandemic. The Tories while making mistakes along the way are dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t. The issue is our Devolved Government, they are happy to give out contradicting advice while taking no accountability. This virus is not different for the Welsh and the Science is no different for the whole of the UK. Testing procedures and availability should be equal.

Looks like something has finally changed as the Government website is currently showing availability in all nations, including Wales. Also availability for Home testing.
