Any chance of a poll , like the one Wrexham.com held for the Late Opening/ Sunday opening of shops, for the three possible options for keeping the webcast?

Good to see the broadcast of the full council meeting, and the support to continue the webcast. Now that the work of the Council is more available for us all to see, it will be good to see and hear about the important debates and decisions that determine how Wrexham works for everyone as a town and county. The meetings are full of preprared statements and debates, can we see this move to discussion and debate about the real issues and facts

Does that mean other committees and meetings have to be shown, and does it mean that the full council meeting has to spend time debating the big issue that really affect day to day living and council budgets

Debate is a crucial word here — from watching most of the broadcasts it is clear that debate is stifled and certainly any opportunity to ask meaningful questions the presenter of the report is virtually non existent. A council Chamber is supposed t be a debating chamber — lets hope the web casting will help reintroduce this type of involvement of Council Members rather than paying lip service and then nodding things through on the vote of the 10 Executive Members only.
Would also be good if the Council set up a live feed for the public to post comments during the meetings.

Well looking at the Council Executive meeting today does anyone know where to get large cardboard cut outs from- these would probably show more life than those Councilors who sat , said nothing , got board and then left. It is a disgrace that ratepayers are paying for people to sit in meetings and not contribute.
Today also showed the disgraceful way that personalities are getting in the way of political/member debate. Clr King may have some faults but the manner in which the Leader dealt with some of the points raised and the sneering is a disgrace.

I don’t blame non executive councillors for not remaining at the meeting, as it was apparent that awkward questions or dissenting voices would not be fully heard at the meeting. They may as well have held the whole meeting under ‘Part 2’ where the public and webcam are excluded as nothing was discussed that was not already in the public domain.

Get rid of the Executive Committee … Not needed. Let all subjects be discussed in open Council. The we can all see how all the council members perform (or not). Watch should be kept up for any attempts by the Chair.. Lead Member etc etc. to stifle debate or input of information and opinion.

How about that? Democracy visible and naked in Wrexham. May even start a trend :)

Mark Pritchard living up to his reputation as school yard bully and Hugh jones dismissive of every question asked simply kept repeating his own rhetoric. Dana Davies asks a perfectly reasonable question about exit strategies and he accuses her of not asking a question shoots her down in flames and repeats the same garbage he’s just said. Gives me the creeps.

We need fewer and much better councillors. We could easily manage with half the number and if the new ones were twice as professional we’d be in a much better situation.

If looks could kill then it is clear from the body language from some of the executive on the webcast that anyone who asks a question would be dead- disgraceful intimidation.

Yesterday evening a few of us discussed the webcast of the meeting this week. It is clear many councillors want answers, that they are not getting, and that they want things to happen more quickly. We all said good for them, and let’s see a lot more debate on the webcast.
