99DylanJonesParticipantFollowing the release of documents under a Freedom of Information the public (and the Councilors who clearly did not have the full picture presented to them) should have a read https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/capita_the_sports_consultancy_an#incoming-486402
Everyone can make their own judgement about what has happened but this information gives you an insight of how decision making process is clearly ‘steered’ .

zingerParticipant“50 swimmers from Wrexham Swimming Club will be travelling up to the Tollcross International Swimming Pool (home of the 2014 Commonwealth Games) to compete in the very first Tri-Nations Challenge on Friday 11 April.
The Club has been selected from hundreds of Welsh Clubs to represent their country at this prestigious event to tie in with the Commonwealth Trials for Britain’s Elite Swimmers. Wrexham Swimming Club will be swimming for Wales in a never-before-seen event against England and Scotland for top honours”. quote Wrexham.com
These are the children that they were talking of leaving without a swimming pool. Money should not come into the equation when it comes to children learning to swim.
Congratulations to Wrexham Swimming Club. I hope that you do well in Glasgow. I am very proud that my children and some of my grandchildren have been swimmers in this great club many years ago.

99DylanJonesParticipantBrilliant news for all the youngster and coaches and all those who help with the club keep up all the good work and keep the Club going.

99DylanJonesParticipantSad day today for everyone (apart from Councilors) as Plas Madoc Closes at 5.00pm. Feel sorry for the staff many of whom have not been redeployed.
Its going to cost £60k to secure it – what a waste of money now that a group has come forward with serious plans to take over the Centre – the place should have been left open whilst the group put everything in place.April 27, 2014 at 3:06 pm #67039
wxmParticipantPeople will walk away from Wrexham. Needing to obtain information by an FOI legal process, when it should be debated healthily in public with the objective being the well-being of the community …so so sad, and destructive

wrexviewParticipantWonder if they have prepared it for “mothballing” or are they just turning the key in the lock and walking away ?

Its a sad day for democracy when we, the electorate, are deemed not to be important enough to be informed of decisions made behind closed doors, or given information behind those decisions. It should not be necessary to resort to FOI requests to obtain information.

99DylanJonesParticipantThe ‘mothballing’ is supposed to be to the standard that the Centre could open up at any time in the future without pool drain down etc which is the biggest risk due to potential Legionnaires.
The security is ti be metal shuttering on all potential entry points. Sad that now there is a trust that the council could not have used the mothballing funding to keep it running until the trust takes over.
