Thanks to Wrexham.com for bring out into the open the variation in possible use for the ‘Nine acre’ and the Groves. With new owners of Wrexham FC it was inevitable that they would scrutinise plans closely. It is believed that when they looked at the ‘Nine Acre’ they found that the size of the field was in fact only just over 8 acres and their training pitches where not full size.
This triggered a review of the Groves and a similar issues has been identified with the total playing space is far smaller than expected to get the training pitches in place as well as the building facilities as their had been an issue converting the old measurements on the site plan from yards, feet and inches into metres.
The Lex site borders onto the Stansty Estate with ample space — watch this space for a long legal battle with the Council as they block the development because they don’t want to be left with the problem Groves site.
