Rowan Moore was commenting on the architecture of the building and Ty Pawb’s potential. No more and no less. He has a reputation for writing well-informed articles. I am sure somebody could find a critic to praise or decry what happens in the place, but he is an architecture critic, not an arts or business one. The People’s Market was grim claustrophobic low-ceilinged hole with all the appeal of a rarely cleaned municipal toilet bloc. If Rowan Moore had experienced what was there before, he would have found even more to praise in its rebirth as Ty Pawb.

So what you are saying is that Ty Pawb has successfully elevated itself to the appeal levels of a polished toilet block.

    £4.3m well spent.

I’m a recent convert to the idea that we should all place down our arms, embrace positivity and get behind this great asset that has been bequeathed to the town.

There’s a wonderful and inclusive exhibition on as I speak, featuring four artists who, through their work, tease out a number of aesthetic and political issues concerning Gypsy, Roma and Traveller lives through cultural representation.

Let’s all put our differences aside and come together to support and celebrate the future of Wrexham’s cultural revival.

Au contraire Mr Express, we need to convene and consider the bigger picture here.

Income from tourism is growing for the area at a time of simultaneous retail demise.
There may be an opportunity to buck the trend, increase footfall and income for the town whilst simultaneously reinventing Wrexham as a ‘Destination.

For example, there is no local rival within 130 miles for the infamous ‘Appleby Horse Fair’.

Something like this could really set the tills ringing, put the town on the map whilst Ty Pawb could plan to lure events such as the ‘Horse of The Year Show’ from London’s Olympia.

You’re a little behind the times Sheefag ol’ mate. The HOYS hasn’t been held at Olympia for years. Birmingham’s been its home since the early 2000’s.

They’d have more chance of successfully applying to be the start point for the 2020 Gumball 3000 Rally.

Problem with Ty Pawb is everyone was told it was going to be a ‘fantastic’ Art Hub yet the work inside has been mainly boring at best, art that you would shrug your shoulders at then carry on walking. Even the Liechtenstein and Hirst were poor let downs, its basically Pimlico with 4.3 million behind it.

The recent wall project (with a £5000 commission) went to the organisers friend who makes more work that people will shake shoulders at then carry on walking.

Anyone know who is being threatened with eviction?

This is awful management – if it’s too expensive and traders are treated with disrespect the market element is going to be empty as nobody new will want to move in. No doubt more will leave as the continued negative PR keeps shoppers away.

Well well – you couldn’t write this script about how not to run a business – the Council really do need to look long and hard at what they have been doing – eventually pulling out contracts that have not been agreed and because officers are in trouble for not having these in place from day one they are blame shifting to the businesses.

Blame shift is not the way to take this forward and these levels of threats will inevitably make any other potential stall holder think twice.

It is about time that Council Members called this in for a full Scrutiny sooner than later- they can’t possibly allow this fiasco to run as along as Sprouts before making a decision about mismanagement and huge fincial loss.

Clearly the stallholders owe rent but what is the actual start date — you certainly have to have sympathy with them due to the lack of Wi-Fi to be able to take card payments.

What is the Arts Council doing to try and ensure that their £million does not go totally down the pan!

It would be nice to hear from actual traders about what’s going on. Are there any there who are actually prospering? Is Ty Pawb working for them? Is the negativity on these forums a true reflection of the majority of traders or just a polarised view based on a few unhappy traders who aren’t realising the profits they were expecting?
