Will the Council now accept that Social Media and electronic surveys DOES NOT research significant number of people who may actually need public conveniences hence the very low responses. As the number is not statistically sound due to the low numbers will the Council now seek another way to get more respondents before passing a decision. How can a public consultation that is supposed to influence a decision be made with such a low response.
It also reflects perhaps that the majority of people don’t see this as an issue as they are able to go into a variety of shops, cafes and supermarkets and use their facilities and perhaps no one actually needs Council run , very often ‘manky’ toilets that often are not even fit for an animal to use.
THE PUBLIC HAVE SPOKEN (OR NOT) THROUGH THE SURVEY NOW COUNCIL MEMBERS LISTEN – SCARP YOUR PLAN, SCRAP YOUR TOILETS AND INVEST THE MONEY IN SOMETHING MORE USEFUL.. WE HAVE BETTER ALTERNATE FACILITIES IN THE AREA.

The WG consultation on local gov changes had 170 replies, I think that was with 25 from ‘general public’ as well so if that is true for the toilets question, I fear to your thoughts on that! :)

Another question is are these for guidance and a flavour of thought or mini referendums on issues?

These so called consultations are no more than a token effort, so that no one can challenge procedure when the decision is made. Even if the correct decision is made, for the correct reasons, people then waste council officers time by challenging and bringing in AM/PMs/ombudsman etc…

The council are quite happy to press on with their plans for the closing of the peoples
market in its current form, even though the response to the consultation on that matter was
only about the same number as the toilets response, don’t make sense to me.
