jimbowParticipantNow the decision has been called in, together with the great deal of public interest. Will the Council allow the Scrutiny Committee meeting to be webcast, in the interests of transparency.?

Nothing overly odd on that in my book – aside from one Wrexham.com filmed I dont think there has been any video out of a scrutiny ever.
The Council Leader did say he would be looking to extend webcasting to cover the lot at some point, and would aim to find the £ to do it.

Councillor x ( if indeed you are real ). Wonder if you can pass on the contact of those who ” removed the tie a tie ” exhibition, and indeed the earlier banner. I am sure I am not alone in seeking such action on the real fly posting, graffiti and the like in our community.February 2, 2016 at 11:04 pm #107237
99DylanJonesParticipantLooking at the statement by the Chief Executive this morning about removing the ribbons because the Groves is ‘Our Property’ needs a challenge/ Since when does the Chief executive and the Council have ‘our property’ – perhaps she along with other officers and Council Members needs to remember that they are only custodians on behalf of every rate payer in Wrexham. Assets of the community belong to the community with the Council having the responsibility to look after them.
It is astonishing that the reason for removal was because it is ‘our property’ – it was not even stated that there was a Health and Safety risk to motorists who could be distracted.
When you have officers in the Council with this attitude the sooner changes can occur the better. Remember Council Members each one of you is up for election in 2017—every ex pupil of Grove Park living in Wrexham could be challenging you through the ballot box. The issue over the Grove Park site is yet another example of gross mismanaging, if they Chief Executive thinks it is our property then why did she not ensure it was looked after – gross incompetence on behalf of the Council.
Let us hope that ex pupils of Grove Park Girls and Boys, The Groves (and St David’s, Bryn Offa and St Josephs who have all shared the site) will come forward in 12 months’ time and stand against those who are part of the current regime of arrogance and self-centred approach to our history, assets and services.
If they don’t want ribbons on the fence then maybe a really big ribbon all the way around the Guildhall before next Tuesdays Executive meeting may be symbolic enough. Plas Madoc managed a ring of people all around the Leisure Centre why not come together around the Guildhall 9.30 for 10.00am at the Guildhall in Wrexham.
United we stand!!! Lets see if the x teachers on the Council stay with Council Members of join a protest?February 3, 2016 at 8:55 am #107247

Ask yourself how many Councillors who agree with the demolition went to the school (in whatever form) and perhaps even taught there?
Also, the Council is correct in taking the ribbons down in line with Policy, so Dr. Helen Paterson, a former Head Teacher, is quite within her rights to order their removal.

PeterthewatcherParticipantCouncillor X — I fail to see why the fact that Helen Patterson is an ex Headteacher has any relevance to her role as Chief Executive ordering the removal of the ribbons — if the school was open that is a different issue- the fact that she sees the building as ‘our’ property is the key point at this stage.
The added issue of Health and Safety seems extraordinary when less than 3 months ago the Coleg Cambria plan was to retain and utilise the building– if there had been a major internal fire or similar that changed the structural integrity then yes H & S could be an issue.February 3, 2016 at 6:10 pm #107275
bobo the clownParticipantThe usually invisible “Dr. Helen Patterson” (& BTW, who uses Dr. in such circumstances ??) may well be correct that “it’s our property so we can remove things if we wish” but has she the faintest idea how pathetic that sounds ?
It remains the case that the Council look incredibly suspicious trying to railroad this through after decades of doing nothing. The reason the building is in a poor state is because it was left to rot while the Council spent years …. and £hundreds of thousands trying to overturn the terms of the covenant upon which the building & land had been donated to the Borough. (a covenant which dictated that it had to remain in use for education purposes).
Their clear ambition to to overturn that term, knock it down and sell it for building land. It seems to have been too watertight to overturn. Disgrace behaviour by this & previous Wrexham Councils over a very long time.
Patterson’s Petulant Pouting sums them up. Back to your hidey-hole “Doctor”. I preferred it when you said nothing at all. Oh, & btw, grow upm

Poor write up by the BBC, out of date photo and a short lazy report.
