There is often some confusion about the funding of the Tŷ Pawb development…. £1.5 million has been provided by Wrexham Council…
What usefully could have done with this money for the benefit of the majority of constituents. The council are trying to save the odd £15,000 here and there by various hardship means. £15,000 represents just 1% of that spent by the council alone on the vanity, Ty Pawb, White elephant project. The money could have been more usefully spent on 30 swords for the councillors to fall on when the project fails. I think a few councillors will ‘head to the hills’ before then. Vote the Councillors Out.

Council WatcherParticipantIt appears that there has been a ‘flexible’ rental package been created for the food outlets and the other stalls- there are reductions and rent-free periods being offered to try and get full occupancy.
Can’t wait to hear about the first time all the traders get together and they find they have different terms.
It looks like there might have been ‘deals’ sorted for some business to be the anchor tenants – this is standard practice in many large retail outlets so not unusual. This does, however, mean that revenue income will not be secured from day one. The result will be more subsidy from ratepayers.March 23, 2018 at 9:46 am #146667

As for traders getting together to seek similar terms, from what I learnt from my time in the market, they only look after themselves. There is no togetherness.

wrexviewParticipantSee the new signage has gone up on Ty Pawb, “market, community and art” facing Chester Street. Presumably they will have similar signage facing towards Tesco so that people driving through the town will see it , no passing traffic on Chester Street !

ChillDoubtParticipantNot been yet but from everything I’ve seen thus far via this site and social media I’m expecting to be decidedly underwhelmed.

Council WatcherParticipantCan’t believe I am part supporting Ty Pawb by justifying some expense!!
Before people actually, go totally bonkers over the £43k quoted for the event today this can be broken down as:Artists doing workshops at a number of venues in advance of the launch today. This took art out to the community so some new people engaged. Fully support
Large giant street carnival characters. Don’t support – what happened to the good old days when groups would decorate a vehicle — how many people remember the Christmas Parades, Round Table Extravaganza etc. ‘Art’ in its purest raw sense but had 100’s of people helping from across all types of organisations ranging from Play Groups to Pensioners- something for all… Jazz Bands, Morris Dancers etc.
Fireworks — been told they are £10k what a waste- anything less than New Year London/Sydney style fireworks are no longer worth watching- environmentally unfriendly – why not have a light show- something different and no pollution.

Signs for the toilets might be good. Even if the gents are only allowed a no.1. Less money on fireworks and more on getting the W.Cs working. Farce
