Much of the external revamp has included wood. There are a couple of new seats outside the main door which are just natural untreated wood, unfortunately they are already stained, showing signs of wear and are unhygienic. A recycled plastic product would have been a much better option.

I can’t understand why they have used so much wood on the exterior building of the Eagles Meadow site. It will go to look tatty pretty quickly and will cost a lot of money to maintain.

I look at that most days and can’t help ponder why on earth they didn’t varnish the wood. It already looks ugly.

Methinks that some people have too much time on their hands.
Two wooden benches outside a shop…….and that is worthy of a thread? Pathetic!!!!!

Welshpool store has had that look since it was built and still looks fine.

They probably did, but this country and exterior wood just don’t mix well. Hot summers / cold winters ruin wood outside. Another bright idea by somebody who hasn’t got a clue.

Wood cladding, glass and metal panels seem to be this generation’s Brutalism.

Hum! I thought the same as BenjaminM, but seeing as it has been posted, I’ll add that Wood is the new Tesco house style. It’s ben added to several stores. I gather it makes them seem more “cosy”. As for the original post from Wrexview, why not write to Tesco and tell them about the wooden benches being unhygienic?

As an after thought, look at the wood outside Eagles Meadow, that’s not wearing well either!
