Rob- might be worth asking a question in the Council media briefing today what do they intend to do.

The council and police are all over this like a rash now, they only respond to issues when complaints are made these days, so keep complaining.

Perhaps they might also react to the back of the Old Woolies that looks more like a worn torn thiurd world country and smells like Five Fords sewage works — disgrace and it has been like this for abouyt three months

and the back of the Library & ‘Needle Park opposite the Police Station.

If it wasn’t for people like Keith Gregory, who regularly go out and clean the areas, the town would be a lot worse off..

The whole problem needs looking at from the begining and what drives someone to a ‘life’ of substance misuse- the litter is the end product- surely there must be something that can be done ear;ier.

From the above comment, (something being done earlier) what I don’t understand is you rarely see the same people twice, are they being brought into Wrexham somehow from somewhere ?

    I disagree.
The last 3-years in particular when the problem of NPS crack cocaine and heroin abuse has come into vogue in Wrexham, the offenders are predominantly of local origin. And sadly long-term residents of the Wallich projects and services in the immediate area of the ‘Wrexham Golden Triangle’.
The’Golden Triangle’, being Chester Street, Waterworld, The Library, The Bus Station, Grosvenor Road, and Rhosddu.
They’re all familiar faces. Their names commonly known. Their pictures appearing in the local media, BBC videos etc
The Council identified that a great number of those engaging in anti-social behaviour at the Groves ‘commune’ weren’t homeless. Had addresses etc
Council acted on advice from the various agencies, Police etc who asked people not to give donations etc because it just funded their habits. Basically these people were not homeless. Just people with addictions

Simon – a very good summary and cleared up some of the myths- your final point about addiction is crucial as that is what is stopping many of the users from stopping. Breaking the cycle of any addiction is one of the hardest things in life and no one who has never suffered from any form should think that you can break free. Addiction can take hold of your life and make it the number one prioroty when you first wake up in the morning — whther that is in a doorway or in a house.
The lack of mental health services is a key issue and having diversionary activities to start helping people are crucial- without improvements in both we are doomed to failure in trying to solve the problems you see in any town or city.

If you are an alcoholic you can join Alcoholics Anonymous which I understand is a self help group for people who want to get off alcohol. Is there nothing similar for drug takers?

I and many others who see them regularly would have to disagree with your disagreement, there are different people all the time and getting more of them all the time, even although they are kept out of the bus station now, maybe they are breeding in the said car park !
