Seen the police speed camera van parked in a layby at the bottom of Ty Gwyn lane today actively catching speeders, just wondering if this was a legal place to set up a speed trap as there are no speed camera signs posted anywhere on that stretch of road. The nearest signs i think are by dane motors and on llay new road close to the turning for southleigh drive. I wasnt caught speeding im just curious as i thought the warning signs for speed cameras had to be displayed throughout the section of road that they opetate on.
Around here they’re usually on some hardened areas placed years ago. Search for “drivable grass” to see what I mean. Sometimes the grass grows long but it’s still hard enough for them to park on.
I once got done leaving Llangollen by the Wild Pheasant – they were in a private entry!
The one that parks on the Llay new road regularly leaves a wheel on the footpath and is parked facing oncoming traffic both these are classed as motoring offenses. (unless your a speed camera van).
The thing that gets me about this location is it can be parked there late at night when there’s no pedestrians about. Surely it would be better placed in Llay between 8 and 9 am when there’s loads of school kids around. The commuters race through Llay and then turn off at Pandy to head towards the industrial estate.
Andy is correct regarding parking facing oncoming traffic. Road Vehicle Lighting regs. sect.24 paras 5 and 8 apply.
Still not permissible to park on pavements though.
