MattParticipantJust when you thought they couldn’t get anymore incompetent we learn almost 1,700 mental health patients who still needed support were released early because of someone misinterpreting guidelines.
What kind of absolute f*cking idiots have we got running the health board in North Wales?

wrexviewParticipantWhat process is there for a root and branch change to the Management of the BCHB ? The staff work tirelessly to give the public good treatment but they are up against budget debts, vacancies unfilled for years, referrals to out of area hospitals refused because of unpaid bills and the list goes on. BCHB have been in special measure for years with what effect ?

JaneJParticipantLets make this thread clear that there is no criticism to front line staff who do a fantastic job-
Welsh Government when they put the Board into Special Measures was supposed to have an independent oversight – if that is happening and these failings still exist then the operational management failings fall directly at the Minister Vaughan Gethin door. They have had changes of Chief Exec, Changes if Board chair, new Directors, masses of ‘specialist consultants’ and it is still worse than ever.
Staff are being gagged and not permitted to speak out at failings they see around them on a daily basis.
The scale of the organisation makes it virtually impossible to turn it around- they probably have one last attempt and that is to bring in non medical senior managers who have the experience of turning businesses around- the skill requirements are high calibre Private Sector managers who have skills to make things efficient and improve services.

wrexviewParticipantIn England Nick Hancock wrote off the debts of All health boards in one stroke. What effect would the same process have on BCHB? Mark Drakeford said it was merely an accounting exercise in England and wasn’t possible in Wales. Another reason why we should return to a real National Health Service.

wrexviewParticipantMore proof that the BCHB are not fit for purpose.
North Wales health board rapped by auditors for £60m Ysbyty Glan Clwyd revamp overspend
This report goes back to 2014, was this irresponsible , recklessness , stupidity or a deliberate act by someone? Whatever the real cause the
Public are still being affected and there is little hope that the debt of the Health Board will be written off because of the “strings “ Vaughan Gethin have attached to his offer. The Welsh Assembly are not blameless in this episode so maybe they should do the right thing and remove the “strings “ and wipe out the debt.September 8, 2020 at 2:44 pm #192554
Councillor XParticipantMatt I was worried by the title of this and the “Year Zero” (PP) overtones. But its ok so carry on.

wrexviewParticipantHow come it takes BCHB 4 years to install a new telephone system and it still has problems!

MattParticipantAn MS (AM) has called for Betsi to be scrapped, how long will the debacles go on?
November 24, 2020 at 10:30 pm #196562
wrexviewParticipantSo BCHB is to come out of special measures after five years, is this based on measurable improvements, or a political move reflecting the imminent Assembly Elections in six months time?

JaneJParticipantFirst of all give credit to all front line staff who have been fantastic during Covid.
As for today’s announcement where is there a Public report with evidence that the entire organisation is so much improved.
This is as big a cover up as the past five years have been.
Vaughan Gethin has just sealed the beginning of the end of his role as Health Minister. There is so much evidence about from staff that are scared to go into work because of such poor practices.
I hope Wrexham.com can get the evidence report.
Failures all round that can’t be just fixed by throwing cash. The new Chief Exec was supposed to have been appointed to sort it out now it appears no need for her to come from Australia. Will they now reduce her salary as she does not have Special Measures to deal with.
This will come back and haunt the Labour Party in North Wales in the May election. Ken Skates and Lrsley Griffiths better start a job search. -
