MattParticipantFirst the police have had to launch an investigation into why some of Sarah Atherton’s leaflets are missing legally required information.
https://www.oldleaderlivestory.co.uk/news/18074113.wrexham-police-launch-investigation-claims-missing-imprint-wrexham-torys-election-leaflet/Secondly, she has completely alienated anyone in town who is proud of the Welsh language by opting to completely ignore the standard bilingual approach to leaflets and put them out in English only. There are people now stating they will no longer vote Conservative in the election because of this very easy to have avoided gaffe. The excuse was made that hardly anyone in the area “Only Speaks Welsh” and they didn’t have time.
This is the response from @Wrexham's Tory candidate @AthertonNWales to a complaint that all her campaign literature was in English only.
Nobody who cherishes the Welsh language should vote Tory. pic.twitter.com/LpRyhzBoj8

What an absolute joke.

MattParticipantThis quote on the Wrexham.com site is highly concerning, she signs off on things in her name despite there being legal and cultural issues moving forward. If she is unable to commit to getting things right at campaign stage, what possible trust could Wrexham have in her as an MP?
Advertising / Canvassing Statement
We asked the question ‘Are you aware of all advertising or canvassing done in your name in connection to this election, and are you fully confident in its accuracy and transparency? Plus any relevant information ‘ . The candidate response is below:The Conservative Party, my Agent and Campaign Co-ordinator organise the advertising and canvassing done in my name during this election. I have confidence it is accurate.

Ioan y FfinParticipantObviously the local Consevative party can’t see Wrexham as marginal after all. Or is the serious campaigning focused online not the letterbox.
Considering each party’s candidates make very similar promises regardless of their constituency, the “challenge” of finding some Welsh text is simply a matter of copy and paste and then amend the name of the constituency. If the Conservatives or any other party can’t manage that, then they will find government beyond their capabilities.
The real question is why didnt Andrew Atkinson stand – he has done all the hard work in previous elections. Surely being councillor for Gresford is not that exciting!

Maureen GrayParticipantThe truth is obvious here. Sarah Atherton / Andrew Atkinson. Very brave of him at this important time.
On a more trivial note, why do these pathetic also rans keep sending out their glossy leaflets, what ever language they are in, they’re cluttering my telephone table.December 5, 2019 at 8:05 am #177719
Llayby lillyParticipantSarah Atherton…she gets my vote this election. Come on the good people of Wrexham, lets vote Conservative and… lets get Brexit done…!

DerekJacksonParticipantIs Sarah Atherton a true Conservative? Having heard and seen some of her comments in the media – does she really back all of Boris’s plans – does not look like, does she believe in all of the Manefesto – most certainly not.
If elected she should be reminded of all her non Conservative comments she has made in the campaign and see if she sticks with her personal beliefs.

I for one welcome a free thinking public servant (extensive nursing / NHS background). Only robots agree with absoultly everything their party commits themselves too. She has expressed her own views without fear or favour and this should be welcomed by all local voters. She will have a forensic understanding of how Labour have run the NHS in Wales into the ground ie BCUHB still in special measures after nearly 5 years….! Come on Sarah!

MattParticipantPerhaps people would consider voting for her if she even had the basic decency to turn up to the local hustings and put her point across to the electorate.
Tories seem to be specialists at empty chairs at debates. Her colleague in Clwyd South was able to make it, so the fact that she couldn’t is ridiculous – something everyone will see when Wrexham.com posts the debates tonight.
