It actually makes business sense as the two are only a couple of hundred metres apart — better to have one sustainable branch and not one at all..
I wonder how long there will be a CoOp branch in Egerton street know that they are in such difficult financial state.
It does make more sense. One was obviously Abbey National, the other Alliance and Leicester and they merged, as we know, to Santander. I see no point in having 2 so close together doing the same thing. On the down side, it does leave empty buildings in town again.
