A smash on the Victoria road/Ruthin road junction at tea time this evening.
Personally I think they should have left it as a roundabout. Get stuck in the middle of the road and the lights change, you’re in trouble.Totally agree, no way this should of been changed from a roundabout to lights.
I have had many near misses since they changed to lights as the lights do leave you stuck in the middle of the road when they change to red.
The lights should not leave you stuck in the middle? Once you have passed the stop line you can proceed regardless of the lights changing to red or not. Although a longer delay before the others change to green would be helpful to clear the road.
The ‘normal’ cause of the last few accidents that have occurred at the location appears to be people with their lights on green turning across oncoming traffic when they do not realise that their lights are also on green.
Another cause of the last few accidents is that there are some drivers on the road who just have not got a clue how to drive.
It does seem strange that all the bad drivers appear to have an accident at the same spot. Perhaps the timing on the lights is just a little out. Or should there be a filter fitted? It is a busy road junction after all.
Nooooo Not a filter! While it will fix the problem of people sitting in the middle you then get some drivers sitting in the middle of the road with the lights on green waiting for the filter to come on, and unfortunately it will not stop a driver turning in front of someone when both are on green.
I looked today and all lights are only on red for about 1 second, maybe if this was 3 seconds then the middle of the junction could clear easier (providing people don’t cause an obstruction by sitting in the middle of the road waiting to turn because they can see a red light, after they passed the stop line 10 seconds earlier)?
