I understand that this same old kids sent home for wrong uniform row happens in September every year and it’s important that kids and parents learn to follow the rules, but what’s happened at Rhosnesni is something else. It’s a complete PR disaster for the ‘super school’ after year after year of damning failure.

First off – has anyone ever heard of the 5p test? This was reported by one parent to be going on yesterday. This is where they single out 11-16 year old girls and force them to put a 5p down their trouser waistband and if it doesn’t come out of the bottom of the trouser leg then they are deemed too tight. Just read it here:

    5p

Then there is the small issue of a parent complaining on Twitter to the school’s official account about being told their child’s black socks were inappropriate – the school’s response was to block the parent!

There seems to be a complete breakdown in communication between the school and parents – as so many were caught out and the level of crazy comments made from parents about who was put into isolation and for what reasoning. Blocking parents on social media seems like a bizarre one.

According to the Headmaster he sent out letters to the parents, stating what was acceptable and what was unacceptable what children could wear. Which was a proper school uniform.

Yes, I find that understandable and acceptable that he sent out a letter and obviously parents should do their best to adhere to uniform policy as much as possible – I just feel like the follow-up and certain specific details of how this dress-code was then tested are a bit strange in a school setting in 2018 – in particular how female pupils were specifically targeted.

Well done Rhosnesni High. Parents are really to blame. As Dagg says, letters were sent out.

The world is full of laws, rules & regulations which if not followed can end up with people being injured, imprisoned or worse.

The introduction of school blazers was a great start.

As for social media, say no more.

    Social media has its uses…

Someone has pointed out that when you actually go on the school website to view uniform policy, several of the pupils pictured at the top of the page are not compliant. This is the main publicity image used across the site.

The website hasn’t been updated , the headmaster named on the sign in the background is no longer correct.

They took the time to update and publish the uniform statement on the site with the image and no-one noticed…

They have eight administrative staff, for a relatively small school, the website must be on one of their job descriptions.

Nobody expects youngsters to be perfect & they will always find ways to bend rules quite by themselves. It is part of growing up. That doesn’t mean that they should be encouraged by their parents & people old enough to know better.
Rhosnesni High together with other Wrexham High Schools in the area have an uphill climb in front of them if they are to compete with the better schools & correct school uniform is a good way to start.
