Gresford roundabout is a nightmare … it not only has clearly marked lanes, but some of them are even different coloured tarmac to clearly indicate the distinction between one and the other … and yet the number of people who still pull into the completely wrong lane and then cut you up is ridiculous!
What you must remember that roundabout (rb) was much better designed before they started to messed with it. In those days it had 2 lanes & was much simpler to navigate. Now when people who come here espicially for the 1st time, they will not know where they are going & therefore because of the stupid way it has been newly designed then confusuion will cause an actual/near miss. Solution, but will not be implimented anytime soon: go back to how it used to be. Simples! The business of having 1 lane split in 2 then back into 1 & lanes merging no wonder poeple get confused. If you are on that rb alot then you get used it, for others it’s a pain in the arse.
Nearly had another bump at the traffic lights at the Ruthin Road bypass lights
today. Just come off the bypass today, a car travelling from Coedpoeth goes straight
through on red it’s not the first time this has happened can drivers not see the red light
or are the timings out. someone is going to get seriously hurt onday.
Yes have been on that junction many timnes, people do pull out & instead of putting foot down, they trundle along as though tomorrow will do.
Mold Road roundabout is confusing to anyone who is not local (or even locals). A couple of years ago they altered the lane instructions by putting up yellow signs BUT, the markings painted on the lanes have not been altered. Surely it would not cost much to bring the lane markings in line with the signs.
Agree that rb is too small for lights, they should be scrapped & let traffic use it as they would any other rb. even better put it back as it used to before Q&B opened. There were 2 lanes each direction, could have simply put lights on it as it was, much cheaper too.
Do we have to obey traffic lights and what’s JoanTheHag’s position on this?

    SHE MUST BE HEARD.
Depends on your point of view. No-one really has to obey rules if they want, but here the highway code was designed as a set of rules that would hepl users to navigate safely. EG cars here have steering wheel on the right & drive on the left, you don’t really want all driving as they see fit do you? IF everyone did what they wanted all hell would break lose. So to answer your question, if you are going toward a red light especially if you can see traffic crossing your path as they are on green what do you think will happen if you don’t stop for red?

    Green is go through fast.
Amber is go through as fast as possible.
Red is go through with care.

( I can’t actually drive by the way – but this seems to be how it works. )
