miserableoldbuggerParticipantWhat a horrible horrible way to die.
Why on earth was it necessary to run the poor animal over, I trust the matter will be investigated by the RSPCA and those responsible prosecuted.February 24, 2016 at 6:55 pm #108234
BenjaminMParticipantDisgraceful behaviour. The Police Complaints Authority are investigating the incident. There can be no justification for such actions when North Wales Police are far from reticent when closing roads for incidents of a far less serious nature as illustrated on this site, on an almost daily basis.

janeywxmParticipantAll they had to do was close off the road in both directions and wait for someone like a vet or RSPCA, dog warden etc… They would have one of the long poles with a loop that allows someone to capture a dog at more than arms length safely and humanely! They could easily have used cars to form a circle around the dog until someone arrived.
That dog would have been dragged down the road and felt extreme fear and pain. I am disgusted with North Wales police.

karihaParticipantDamned if they do, damned if they don’t. What would have been said if the car and HGV that were reported to have swerved at high speed to avoid the dog, had flipped or crashed? I understand it was on an unlit section of the A55, which is not a safe place for the police to be out of their vehicles, let along trying to flag down passing motorists to stop with them, for goodness knows how long until someone was able to come and rescue the lost and wandering dog that had already bitten a person.
Do any of your love ones work on the roads? It really sounds like a blooming horrible and dangerous place to work, and quite often a thankless task. Thanks to those who do keep our roads safe to travel on.

R TKeymasterIPCC have just said they wont be looking at the incident.
IPCC Commissioner Jan Williams said:
“We recognise the public concern arising from the incident where a dog was destroyed on the A55 earlier this week. After careful consideration of a referral from North Wales Police, we have determined that the force should continue with its own investigation. I have been reassured by the deputy chief constable at North Wales Police that the matter is being treated very seriously. The investigation is to be conducted with the input of an expert review group including representatives from the RSPCA, the veterinary profession, and a roads policing specialist from a separate police force. I have requested regular updates from the deputy chief constable on the progress of the investigation.”

BenjaminMParticipantThat’s the last we are likely to hear of that then. Internal investigation? Never had any faith in the ‘physician heal thyself’ philosophy. Long grass, here it comes!!!

BenjaminMParticipantTwo dogs loose on A432 in Cardiff, traffic almost at a standstill – BBC News 10 minutes ago.
Very interesting contrast between how South Wales Police are dealing with a peak rush hour situation in a professional manner when compared to their Country cousins handling of the recent events.
Certainly makes you wonder what level of professionalism we are paying for in North Wales.February 26, 2016 at 8:36 am #108320

Report says one dog killed and other two rescued.
Two cars crashed due to them with a woman cut free from her vehicle.
Even with what sounds like road closures and good visibility its ended with people having to be treated by paramedics.
