Nice to finally have some public chargers that dont require subscription?

Does anyone know what Cable connections are available on the new charge points, is there only 1 or 2? CCS/Type2 is the UK, Europe & USA standard with also chademo on some a few models.

According to “Zap Map“, Tŷ Pawb has a dual Type 2 charger run by GeniePoint.

You’ll need either GeniePoint’s RFID card or web app to use it.

Many thanks, it’s terrible that Wrexham Council did not go with a company that also let’s you just use your contact less unless these new units do?

I really hate that you need 4 or 5 apps to charge in the UK. All need option of just using contactless card even if it’s a bit cheaper with an app or subscription.

Looks like you have to top up credit to your account to be able to use their charging stations, not a good solution for Wrexham Council to use, this means having several accounts that you have to keep topped up just in case. Why just not use a company that just has an option to use your Contactless card with out topping up.

Is this a quick charge point or slower trickle charger unit – they have probably chosen this company as they are prepared to pay the most for the site.

Unfortunately it’s the very very slow 7kW charging. They should have gone with 14kW as a minimum.

I’m guessing the council put this out to tender, and Geniepoint offered to fit a charger for free.

7kW is what you get put in your own garage, and will take 7-10 hours to fully charge an electric car.

So basically it is a trickle charger and you are going to leave your car longer and possibly incurr the £10 extra charge – it doesn’t bode well then as being a ‘go to’ charge piint with these restriction. This is such ashame as Council for once could have been seen as a leader in renewables.

Even the new EV charging points coming to most Tesco’s are 7kW for free but have the option to pay for 50kW, not that will give you a proper charge on 30 minutes than this 7kW will give you in 4 hours.

Wrexham council going for the cheap choice again. 14kW for the others in waterworks PLEASE. But they won’t listen, Wrexham council never do.

    Wrexham Council Approach:

If you cant ignore a job, do it half baked.

Preferably at twice the cost of doing it properly.

    Time after time after time.
