Just need to get this information out there in the Llay community. Were you aware that there are plans in the pipeline to build a huge new housing estate on Gresford Road, Llay on the grazing agricultural land all along Gresford Road from the Crown pub down to Forest Road and half way down the Straight Mile.

Planning consent is now being sort following traffic surveys, and other various local surveys.

We are planning to fight this proposal all the way.

350 houses is a huge amount of houses in one village. I would be against it too. They overwhelmed Brymbo.

    Hello zinger
Exactly our point. If you take in the fact that the doctors and schools are already full to capacity another 1000 people in an area will have a Hugh detrimental impact on the people already living in LLay. It is beyond belief that the council are even considering it. But presume it’s all about money as things always are.
    Thanks for the comment.

I wonder if it is the plan to join all the villages together so that they can call them Wrexham & try again to make it into a city. I believe that they tend to leave Rhosddu, Acton, Borras etc off the postal addresses now.

Who is the ‘they’ you refer to zinger? I assume you mean WCBC.
What on earth could possibly lead you to the conclusion that a development by a private contractor is some mysterious sub plot for WCBC to renew an application for City status?
And why is it necessary to designate an address with a superfluous sub district when Wrexham suffices. And don’t forget, we do have Postcodes there days.

Have you no sense of humour Benjamin? Perhaps I should have added a smiley face (if I knew how to of course)

I leave Rhosddu, Acton, and Borras off my postal address because I don’t live there. :) :) :) :) (just so we’re clear)

You don’t know what you are missing Ferret. Seriously though. I grew up in a beautiful village many years ago (not in Wales) that was many miles away from the city. The green belt has all been built on & now my old home is possibly no more than 3 miles away from edge of the city. I hate the thought of living in a concrete jungle.

One sort of development to look out for will be when the Council assess its current position re land and farms that it owns and starts putting planning permission on its own land to sell for development — we all just need to remember you can only sell the family silver once! It’s worth checking if you are in a rural area who actually owns the farm land around your own village.
