Another side issue to the free car parking in December is that the new Ty Pwb arts hub has car parking income from the Peoples Market as part of its financial budget- if the free car parking is carried out again for Council Car parks have they adjusted their budget forecast to reflect a loss of 1/12th of their car park revenue. This adding to the already heavily predicted loss.

In the original budget, there was a big emphasis on car park revenue as they had predicted the charges going up — then car park wars started and the charges significantly reduced.

In an e mail to Cllr. Bithell on the Ty Pawb report charging £4 for all day parking, and now the Council reverting to £2.50 all day. The reply was whatever it costs to run Ty Pawb, the Council will support the business case.
Another no brainer is the asking rent for the café area £32,500. On top of this I presume there will be service charges. Presently service charges in the markets are just below the rent levels.

It can’t be a surprise that this white elephant is going to cost more and this is just the tip of the iceberg. With 100% of us affected by increasing council tax and 90% affected by cuts to services, how the council and councillors can think that this white elephant project (which will be to the use and benefit of only 1% of constituents) can justify the costs and on-going costs is a mystery. What we have to do is get rid of the majority of the sitting councillors and replace them with intelligent, practical thinking councillors who will stand up to the overpaid hierarchy of the council. We, the majority, should direct the council – we pay your inflated wages.

Well said Sir/Madam, BUT there’s always a but, how many people are willing to stand at the elections and take the flack that will always come against people who put themselves forward, MP’s Councillors whatever, not that they are all useless (there are some that do their best to stand up to the hierarchy )just the majority, see I am a point in case at complaining but would I put my head above the parapet !!
