Why can’t we report accurately on anything round here? They know of only 17 Care Home deaths up to April 17, but that’s all they know. Is there a fundamental lack of statisticians at North Wales authorities and organisations, or do they think if they sweep things under the carpet then nobody will notice how bad things are? I’d understand if there was a spike vs anywhere else during normal times, but everywhere has it just as bad.
I hope WCBC will be looking into what is going on within the county. It’s almost like our old people are vanishing without a trace and sadly having funerals with (next to) nobody in attendance. Really sad situation.
There are probably several factors going on here including the protection of the identity of Care Homes that are reliant on high capacity of residents to make the finances balance. It is not commercially good to have such a bad news story about Covid in a home.
As several care homes will have residents that are laid for by Local Authorities then surly, they must be able to gather figures as well.
Has the system just been trying to hide the scale of the issue by just treating our elderly people as just another older person death?
Sadly the figure of 17 just does not seem to reflect what we are seeing on the news- every one of these elderly people are a parent, grandparent, aunty, uncle, brother or sister they all deserve more than being forgotten so that their death is not in vain when planning support for the elderly.

This whole “Marbella Man” (whom I feel is the tip of the iceberg and sensationalist outrage about him alone may deflect from the magnitude over the overall failure) and the sheer number of expensive external consultants Betsi have been paying for and the volume of deficit – millions and millions, adding on even more because of Coronavirus has opened up a massive can of worms to say the least.
There can be no further confidence in Betsi, they have failed the general public in North Wales. If they are expecting to cut millions and millions from an already at bare bones and breaking point North Wales healthcare service – then with the fact that better funded and better equipped hospitals such as the Countess over the border won’t provide specialist treatment to anyone with a Welsh postcode – we’ve been dealt an absolutely brutal hand in a Postcode Lottery.
The Welsh Assembly must intervene immediately in seeking a solution to what is going on before more lives are lost and more people are required to live in pain or go undiagnosed because we’ve been given a piss poor service deal, mismanaged by charlatans who disgrace the badge of the NHS who locally front line workers are so difficultly trying to uphold despite inadequate tech systems in place, insufficient protective equipment, shortages of other medical and pharmaceutical supplies and shortage of staff in general.
And if The WAG can’t deal with it then someone at Westminster needs to intervene.
Problem is that there is no accountability above the Welsh Government as Health is devolved to Wales as a nation– we just do not have a National Health Service we have a Health Service in our Nations (Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England).
The only accountability is through the court with Judicial Reviews or wait till next May for the National Assembly elections.
WAG could wipe out the NHS Wales debt just like Boris has done in England, thus enabling Betsi and other trusts to get back on their feet, but NO, they would rather play gimmicks with paying £500 bonus’ to a select few care workers.
Wales truly is the poor man of Europe…! well for the time being….!

Also makes NHS Trusts even more attractive to US health insurance companies as they carry no debt, just saying.
We must also remember Hancock had the same maths tutor as Priti Patel and Diane Abbot.
