Another Gym has opened in Wrexham in the building next to Home Bargains. it is called SimplyGym.co.uk . This is the second gym to open recently the other is above the old Kwik Save shop in Chester Street. Is this a sign that the people of Wrexham are getting fitter?

Suppose it depends on the objective of the owner. We’ve had some closures of gyms in Wrexham? Suggesting there were too many, or we didn’t use them enough. The health indices suggests we need more gyms and exercise!

We would need to measure a few things to understand, including occupancy, footfall, business rates movements, revenue through gross value added or having a really good relationship with businesses. Retail is pretty shot in the UK, so finding the right type of businesses to cluster in the town will be important. Gyms are good for office people? What is the office population? Wrexham was a market town, could we act quickly and use its roots to find a modern cluster? There will be a sustainable answer that puts enough money through the town, but we will need attract business, which we’re not doing at the moment.
