I’ve just read the article about the council not knowing how much extra money is raised from pay and display because people don’t have the right change. how can it be possible for the council not to know how much is taken extra. The machines are emptied daily where the attendant i’m presuming prints off a receipt to say how much cash there should be, surely this will show how much extra there is in the machine.
In that case as each ticket shows the time paid for as well as the cash paid surely overpayments can be quantified. There are statistics that show the percentage usage of each separate car-park so they must know how many tickets have been purchased and for how long, the extra money after that calculation must equal overpayments!
