What a pity that such a serious incident is being taken as a joke. Blade carrying of anykind on our streets needs to be clamped on so praise to the Police for swift action before anyone was hurt.
Do we really want the streets of Wrexham run by knife wielding yobs

It’ll be interesting to see what punishment the Magistrates Court dishes out to this latest individual caught with a blade?
The last guy hauled before Court had snorted a load of cocaine, and took a big kitchen knife to town and started waving it about on High St…He got.. ‘A three month prison sentence suspended for 18 months and he was placed on rehabilitation and sent on a ’35 sessions thinking skills course’.

In the UK the law guidelines state ‘Possession of a knife can carry a prison sentence of up to 4 years even if it’s not use’

It’s a bit of a mockery then if you can stick a load of chemicals up your nose, reach for the kitchen drawer, and head to town with a large kitchen knife in fear of being referred to rehab and having to attend boring ‘Thinking Skills’ classes?
Not reassuring to Joe Public is it? Wonder how the arresting officers felt about the Court outcome. He wasn’t even fined because he was on benefits? 180 hours unpaid work and he was ordered to pay £85 costs. He could afford cocaine though…

    Here we are…

Another kitchen knife…as well as another 3 inch lock-knife blade …

“distraught after losing £100” on the slots

What a ‘cock and bull story’ these individuals come up with?
More worrying, the Magistrates accept them…

If he’s got issues which clearly endangers himself & the public, he must surely be detained under the Mental Health Act?
How individuals’ Solicitors can defend their clients in such circumstances is bewildering? Citing losing on slot machines? etc… “He is perfectly rational until something causes his mental health to deteriorate…” Ah well, that’s okay then….

Fine eh? What a joke! And someone, sooner or later given the recent stats and odds, is going to be very unlucky in Wrexham town centre…?

Care in the community. Fewer people are being detained. He’s probably classed as a low risk, until he stabs someone.

Please don’t judge the individual involved in the latest Leader news item through these threads – he clearly needs help and been let down by Mental Health services — He is NOT one of the usual street drug takers but a lonely young man who has a family that care.
The cry for help is real and Mental Health professionals should look long and hard as to why they have not given support before.
