AnonymousInactiveTurkeys (The Labour and Lib Dems) don’t vote for Christmas – they won’t go for a General Election. Like Lucas, all the undemocratic MP’s who have consistently frustrated the will of the people during Brexit votes will pay the price. 10,000 majority in Wrexham for Brexit Party – didn’t Lucas ‘smell the coffee’ – No – he voted against the People’s will again today.
It is our individual responsibility to tell everyone we know what Lucas has been up to in our name. LUCAS is a GONNER.

MattParticipantCare to enlighten who is going to beat Lucas in a 2-way Brexiteer vote splitting fight between Sarah Atherton & Nathan Gill?
Last time UKIP didn’t put a candidate up to give Andrew a clear run & he still lost.
Election is coming – you’ll get your say in October.

Ioan y FfinParticipantThere is no such thing as the ‘will of the people’ unless you are one of those who like to hark back to the politics of 1930s. The people are not some kind of monolithic bloc who can only have one single opinion. The country voted 52% in favour of leaving and 48% in favour of staying in the EU so the idea that ‘the people’ spoke with one voice is plain nonsense. A small majority wanted to leave the EU, but no one knew how exactly to leave and sadly during and following the referendum the Leavers completely failed to articulate the mechanics of actually leaving, let alone their final destination. This failure on the part of the Leavers has haunted them ever since and is why we are in this mess today.
The general election will be more complicated than a referendum, because elections are always about more than one issue, despite what politicians choose to prioritize. Leavers in Wales will also have to choose between Boris and his Brexiteers and the future of Wrexham and Wales; it is an either or choice there because Boris and his crew do not care one bit for this part of the UK. You aren’t on his radar and you are expendable. Meanwhile the behaviour of UKIP and Brexit AMs in Cardiff and MEPs in Strasbourg has revealed how completely dysfunctional and hopeless they are both individually and collectively. It may be frustrating paying professional politicians, but it is even worse paying professional fees and getting completely clueless amateurs.
Lets have a vote of no confidence in Boris once Parliament is back from being prorogued and then free beer on tap at every Wetherspoons on election day during the hours of polling!

I had a good point to make on this but you lost me at “free beer on tap at every Wetherspoons”
So is this actually happening? Do you know what “beer” it is? Do you have to vote for one party or can I vote for anyone?
Thanks

As Ioan said, an election is going to be about more than just one issue. If people want to make it about just one issue that’s fine, just don’t expect everyone to follow suit.
All this time spent by all sides in parliament debating, filibustering, delaying, frustrating, amending, countering, proroguing for Brexit is time spent where other key issues aren’t being legislated on. This means austerity still means the outlook remains austere (despite what chancellor says) and other issues such as education, health, the environment, transport, policing, social welfare all get pushed to one side.
Instead we have to put up with constant bullshit about chlorinated chickens and personal name calling. No matter what side you pick, wouldn’t you rather time was spent on restoring the country and looking after its people?
Not really about ‘Well if we just get on and left then things would improve’ or ‘if we just remained in the EU then things would revert to normal’ – We’ve done just fine for years as a member of the EU and equally we did just fine for years before the EU as a standalone country. It would be more important to have politicians in charge who are actually competent at what they do and care about the country and not their own personal gain. Looking at the last few years it has been painfully obvious that this is not the case for those governing. The very fact that former Conservative PMs and politicians are painfully ashamed of what has happened to the party. Now even businesses and economists are completely alienated by the current administration, stating they’d prefer a labour and socialist programme to what is going on goes to show how far we are from a STRONG AND STABLE GOVERNMENT and country.

MargaretAParticipantPerhaps if the Leader worked with his Cabinet, instead of listening to an unelected adviser, the position might be different.
One of the dangers of a general election now is that many people may decide not to vote at all, citing the non action of the referendum vote as a reason.September 5, 2019 at 10:17 am #173594
WreX-iTParticipantIt has turned into a long term farce that has stopped anything being achieved in this Country.
I like many who are fed up with the running joke will vote for the BREXIT party (if there is one in Wrexham) out of protest because this is the ONLY issue on the warped agenda.September 5, 2019 at 10:18 am #173595
WreX-iTParticipantI hope I get to meet Mr Lucas on his campaign. Last time I wished him luck and put an X in his box but this time I won’t be so nice and tell him I think he is a Corbyn suck ass!

Ioan y FfinParticipantAccording to Dominic Cummings’ master plan, devised in secret with Tim Martin, the boss of Wetherspoons. At 8 a.m. across the realm, Wetherspoons will be offering two beers on tap, free of chsrge to all (just bring along your polling card):
a) a British Beer chosen by Nigel Farage and Mark Francois
b) a German lager beer chosen by the CDU drinking club of Munich. (A french wine was considered, likewise a Belgian strawberry flavoured concoction and the Danes did suggest Carlsberg, which caused much merriment in Strasbourg and Berlin).Continuing the fine tradition of postal and proxy voting by other means, you can have more than one pint. Check your polling card to find your nearest Wetherspoons. Don’t leave it too late, there might be queues.
At the end of polling, the electoral reform society will confirm which beer has been consumed the most and the result of the 2016 referendum confirmed or overturned.
