The empty car Llay carpark which is usually chockablock of a weekend shows that people are going (or parking) elsewhere for the sake of a quid. There is no doubt about that amongst regular park users.

Clearly, for the utterly destitute populace of Llay, the difficult choice is between parking and eating.

This whole virtue signalling OUTRAGE neatly ignores the fact that Alyn Waters is easy WALKING DISTANCE from Llay. There’s no need to spend a WHOLE POUND.

Perhaps the only way to get the local whinging lardarses out of their cars would be to carry them there in sedan chairs.

Llay, capital of North Walean entitlement.

I think a lot of people from the village do walk up to the park. However people from town and the surrounding villages would drive. No one suggested that this only affected llay residents? Likewise, The football club used to be attended by kids from all over Wrexham not just children from the village

Don’t you think that it’s ironic that people are willing to pay a lot more than a pound to get there but then object to paying a pound when they’re there ? They best not go to Ellesmere then, it’s £1 for 2 hours parking at the side of the road.

some people used to go there three times a day for the benefit of the above that is 3 pounds.[/quote]

By three times a day I presume you mean dog walkers ? Surely this is a good thing, it will mean less dog mess to be picked up resulting in a cleaner park for everyone. It’s not as if they contribute anything to the park either other than using the parking facilities.

    Reaches for tin hat.

Agree, all that parks are these days is S*** Houses for dogs, gone are the days where you would let your children do roly polys on the grass, as the residue is still there even when it is picked up..

But Ellesmere is a town with town amenities! People are willing to pay for that and the mere and all the other facilities that are available. Hardly comparable with some green open space! Will you will be comparing it with Chester next and advocating charges of £4 for 2 hours!

Oh, and yes lets encourage the football club to relocate and discourage unhygenic dogs and their owners. Lets charge people so they go go to Moss Valley, Acton park, Waen-Y-Llyn and Marford Quarry (all free parking and all with about the same level or better amenities) instead for their recreation. Or perhaps they may just not bother, becoming more inactive and generally more unfit / unhealthy.

But each to their own views. In 6 months time it will be interesting to see a FOI request detailing the financial success (or otherwise) of this project.

Where did people walk their dogs before country parks? It isn’t a new thing.
Dog lovers are amongst the kindest people I know. Children with pets learn how to care for others rather than care only about themselves.
Don’t tar all dog walkers with the same brush. Many are elderly and have a pet for company.
People who throw litter, cans & bottles etc are far more antisocial because they do it knowingly.

I declare this thread a great success.
