High Street food chain Pizza Express is at risk of being the next eatery in the UK to collapse…..

…and it is thought the Pizza Express chains are in debt of up to £1.6 million per eatery.

Those figures are mad aren’t they – I know internally things in Marks aren’t great, constant threat of store closure means certain staff looking elsewhere for jobs and others have left in case Wrexham is the next store earmarked for the axe. There’s no job security there. To think it’s a cornerstone of the high street, but then again so was Woolies…

Then with Debenhams could well be the case that it could be for the whole chain here today, gone tomorrow.

Retail closures will not be stopping soon – we are leading up to the traditional Christmas trade period when many shops rely on this trade period to cover large parts of the quite months- the quite period seems to be extending longer.
In January if there have been poor trade weeks then there are bound to be more closures.

I know a lot of people on here and in Wrexham at large are anti-Eagles Meadow but at least we still have an M&S and Debenhams presence in the town. Quite a lot of towns and cities don’t. So, I;m making a plea, to put aside the anti-Eagles Meadow feeling and physically use these stores rather than shop online or shop in other locations. It’s the only way we can help these shops survive in town. Of course we can’t prevent the BHS situation but we can help stop stores being picked off one by one. There are lots of other stores there too. It will profit no one to have that place as a ghost shopping centre.

Eagles Meadow probably kept M & S in Wrexham. Whilst many people on social media harp on about M & S coming back into town, it would be hard to reconcile that fact with the M & S requirement of having an adjacent Car Park (or similar access).

Wrexham town centre is less accessible than the parade in Borras
