From what I can gather, Multiple traders that have branches in Wrexham, particularly Eagles Meadow, have fared reasonably well. Aspirational local traders will have struggled in the battle against huge competition and the changed footflow patterns

Just to draw your attention to the Glyndwr University Report of June 2012 based upon stats from June 2011 to May 2012. This actually states that Wrexham is Top of the British University league for enduring crime within 3 miles of the College outside London. Google it or ask the police for data. I presume you have facts otherwise ??

glyndwr university isn’t a six form college.

not sure if you are aware but generally when you use the phrase’six form’ it means it’s a poor imitation of something. So by saying a ‘six form’ comment about a part of 20th century art which in my view is ugly means it’m trying to say it’s a little bit more than that. This is how i feel about Eagles Meadow, it’s worst piece of architecture in the town…. yes even worse than the police tower!

I personally believe that wrexham is a very safe town.

ps have i misunderstood what you are replying too?

Oh dear, you haven’t been to university have you, here’s how it works, he said “college” not “sixth form” or “sixth form college”

“Yale” as it was known in wrexham is a FE (futher education) college. a place to “further your education” (a little like this post) and is for people aged 14 and up.

Gylndwr/newi/ wrexham uni, what ever you wish to call it is a university(or HE college) that’s higher education (in that it’s level 4 learning or better), It is made up of colleges, it’s a genetic term, I refer to them both as schools my self, but that’s just me

good lord, he beat you, admit you were wrong and move on x

please explain how, rather than waffle on.

On reflection, I think Alun was actually replying to you rather than me. As we seem to be in agreement that wrexham is a safe town with little crime compared to the rest of UK… allbeit the arson is a cause for concern.

btw why not tell us the crime figures for eagles meadow re: pick pockets and muggings as i don’t get your abuse of the place it’s a safe place, an ugly place that recycles the wrexham money supply to london too quickly, but a safe place nonetheless.

It wasn’t a report from Glyndwr uni. I work in the area and have never seen an incident or heard of one. The uni campus is small in comparison to many others so it was inaccurate of the report to say the uni itself has all this crime. There will of course be incidents in the retail and housing areas which are very close to the uni but are unrelated.

The response from me was to the factless diatribe from the contributor who bemoans other people not citing facts (paininspain). You are actually correct NJones, and I’m not sure who actually sourced the Report on British Universities (which covers Glyndwr). Unfortunately, the Report is accurate but as you suggest is not about the Campus per se, but the immediate hinterland.

A big thanks to the Angryshopper for an intelligent input. I’m not sure how the University of Wales now operates but until recently all of the Welsh Colleges were component memebers of the University offering a University of wales degree. I’m not sure where the w-in-s got the 6th form college thing from because even Yale is no longer one having gained FE status years ago. Odd!

In keeping with citing facts to keep people happy- the report was was commissioned for the website http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/
A story was run on Wrexham.com asking if people thought the report was unduly unfair. The website continues to run the statistics at http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/glyndwr/map if you take a look the crime map shows the majority of crime happens around the town centre so how this is this is ‘student related’ is unclear.

The University of Wales has very little membership now thanks to the antics of some. Glyndwr changed all their University of Wales degrees to their own.

then walk into a tight dark ally to cross a bridge to the shops, OR walk past a porn shop and use the stairs

a little bit incoherant and abusive (paininspain).

I originally mentioned ‘six form’ as a derogatory term towards the most ugliest building in wrexham… as not even a six former trying to do a jackson pollock could have designed a building that is uglier.

On the subject of crime, if you view the police.uk crime map, there is a lot less robbery and pickpocketing in wrexham town centre than in manchester and liverpool. That is my point, eagles meadow is an ugly set of buildings but with little crime.
